You are correct...., after the Town Hall and back at my desk, ring a ding ding and bye bye...."There were surplus as he spoke today. Feinstein .org no bs..."....I have no worries as I am a trust fund kid....I enjoyed working at the T for the short while, learned a lot and made some really good friends but on to bigger and better things....
Our group in ATO was told no telecommuting at all, even though we’ve done it for years, are spread out across the country & have no SAFe roles. Miserable way to work.
I don’t believe he really knows at this point. The executives have been put on notice by the board on the debt situation. The implementation of the new technologies will cause cuts but the depth might be a byproduct of getting that paid down to the level that was promised to Wall Street.
There won't be anymore layoffs - until the next round of layoffs
@ZnLKsN8-rfu "but I can't believe that another large scale surplus is imminent. He wouldn't have said that if so."
That's exactly why he'd say that. Just read 'Nineteen Eighty-Four'. As he's marching them all out the door, you'll just be saying to yourself, "it can't be much of a surplus, cause we know the worst is behind us."
His majority could be 50.000001%
What he says in the townhall and what the leadership below him does are two different things. He made a complete 180 on some of the talking points from earlier this year, while dancing around the surplus activities in the months to come. The plan is the same as it was; he just spun it in a more positive tone to help recover some morale.
He is telling the truth, you just need to listen carefully.... he literally means 51% done, 49% to go....
The majority of the surpluses have been decided, but they haven’t happened yet. The 3rd quarter is really going to s---.
He's just saying that to calm the waters. They can do as they please, and it's not like he thinks you're going to ever know the numbers anyway. "Majority" just means there's 49% more to go anyway.
can I get an Amen?

"The majority of ATO management surplus activity is behind us"

WOW! Unbelievable.
I went off of the payroll on Mar 29th. Thank you, God!
Thank you God for giving me the courage, wisdom, and strength to stand up with integrity. Thank you God! Truth will always prevail and it was time for me to go instead of falsifying records to make others look squeaky clean. I have been very Blessed after leaving AT&T. I pray that your journey with or without AT&T will be the same!
May God be with you all!
Just like the rest of the upper echelon cronies, don't trust them at all.
Telecommute? If you want a job go to work. Don’t expect to get paid a days work while at home watching the kids, running to the store, smoking weed, eating ice cream and so on. If you value your job, show up. If not, there are many others who will gladly take your place.
I imagine telecommuting will be the topic of conversation tomorrow, maybe there is hope this charade will end soon.
He could say anything, i doubt there are any jail terms or fines for lying
Wait for the Q2 results before you trust Mac.
Which org in Michigan got hit today?
There were surplus as he spoke today. Feinstein .org no bs...
There is a special place in hell for McElfresh and all AT&T CEOs.
Yep, telecommuting is still in place, if you can get approval level 4 and above and when your request reach that level, itd be disapproved because they think you'll need to collaborate more.
Michigan lost two second levels and a bunch of first levels today
Who? Field Operations managers 1st and 2nd levels for sure from sea to shining sea.
Do ya’ll understand ‘majority’? It’s not over .
After you get rid of 50% of them, then get rid of 50% of the rest, repeat
Team, he never said telecommuting was taken away. I suspect some managers over indexed on the issue and forced whole groups back unnecessarily. From what I heard today, there is benefit to collocation for creative reasons. This doesn’t mean everyone!
There is plenty left at the Data Center. in Birmingham AL
what he mans is nobody else is left
@mrc "So as he says this there is management under him getting surplus calls! "
Who? What VP ? I know most people like to be Debbie Downers on here, but I am not aware of any current ATO management surplus. And I interface with a lot of different groups in the organization besides my own.
So as he says this there is management under him getting surplus calls! Lol
"Morale". Pffffft. I haven't thought or cared about that for a long time now. What I do care about is being able to stay employed here for a few more years. He could have announced more layoffs today, but he didn't; in fact, it was about 180 out from that, so I was glad to hear it.
Just wait. Another ATO surplus is coming. I'm guessing 6/14. They like to announce these things just before a weekend. Happy Fathers Day. Here's your pink slip.
I think there will be one every quarter until Q1 2020.
Majority only means 51%. Semantics. Morale is still in the toilet.
OP here...honestly I was shocked that he said that at all. He must have had clearance from Donovan to do that. Maybe he's lying, maybe not; but I can't believe that another large scale surplus is imminent. He wouldn't have said that if so. So, in my view, it should give at least some piece of mind to us ATO managers that need to stick around a bit longer. Worth noting though is that his comment was clearly specific to management.
Lies....all lies. And he claimed telecommuting was not taken away.....uh, yes it was!
