Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Did block schedule claim its first victims?

Just curious. I know of a lot of people that claimed that block scheduling will make it impossible for them to work anymore and that the implementation of it means they won’t work for Sam’s anymore. I'm interested about reports about people that realistically walked away from their job due to this. Were there any?

29 people so far not counting the 3 overnights that are waiting until the 22nd to end their time.

We are at 34 people and the 22nd isn’t even here yet!

This change will end up purging more payroll and associates than closing 63 clubs did by a long shot. Well done Giselle and Fhuckner. One of you is gone and the other one won’t be far behind.

Well, we are down to like 16 cashiers and our club needs 25-30 to be considered fully staffed. We have lost 3 desk associates and they were already short staffed. Our grocery department is down to 1 part time associate with no lead. The membership lead wants out. And I know several people who are waiting to see how it plays out.

We have lost a lot as well. 25 in total. Many part timers on top of the full timers and overnights. It’s entirely possible. I foresee more people not lasting long after the change. We have lost 2 Gas attendants, 3 door greeters and 2 tire guys as well in the last week. People fear change a little too much.

Have a couple leads who don’t want the PM shift just biding their time until the 22nd rolls around. Want to get fired so can collect unemployment.

We lost 4 off nights and 4 so far on days and a handful more that say they are going to leave but I highly doubt they do. Its a shame we didnt lose 2 of the worthless teamleads we have. Everyone claiming they have lost 20-30 people thats all BS. If thats true post your club number. Alot of people work at Sams because they couldnt find another job, lets face it the pay s---s and it basically a dead end job and all these people that come back on here claiming how much better of a job they found if that was true then y they still living in the past. They have nothing to lose but yet still wont post there name or the club they left. Before the bashing begins I pretty much hate working at Sams like the rest of you but After 24 years with Sams I cant just go find another job making what I make and I do have responsibilities to provide for my family and id rather take care of that myself then depend on a free handout from the taxpayer. The young generation I see today have no problem being on welfare and most think its owed to them and thats a damn shame and to top it off im betting the very company we work for hav3 over half there employees having to be on some kind of assistance.

All of our overnight quit except 3. All part time sales floor partners quit because they don’t want to have to cross into other areas, all 3 club pick up FT quit because they didn’t want to push carts. 3 TLs quit because they couldn’t do either of the shifts. We even have FT greeters, desk, and cashiers quitting because they were stuck with the closing shift.

So 43 people sounds like a stretch but our club isn’t far off with 31 people if everyone who has put in notice follows through.

43 total quiting with 2 weeks huh? I have $100 that I will pay to your Venmo or PayPal account with proof of anything close to these totals. Reply if interested in taking me up on my offer.

BTW - Your 43 people quit or quiting total is so fake, next time try a number that is not well over 50% of the total full time associates. The PT people at your club haven’t even seen a schedule with them being part of the new scheduling, why would they quit in mass numbers?

Lost all but two of our night shift. Several from the front end gave two week notice. One from the meat department. I don't know about center, hardlines, fresh, or bakery.

Nope, my club was an original test club. At first, yes people threatened and b--ched and moaned and cried. But as time passed, the ones that b--ched and threatened seemed to still be sticking around. Funny how we as grown adults still throw hissy fits when we dont get our way.

Losing several from night shift that work the hours to care for family in the day. Be it to keep kids out of day care which is unaffordable on Sam's wages, or to care for parents. Sadly, 3 of them are primary lift drivers. Don't know how it's going to work with them gone.

We have probably 15 (that are admitting to) looking for another job. A couple gave their 2 week notice.

I put in my 1 week notice. I found something else pretty quickly. I'm flying the coop. No more retail for me! I'm not giving block scheduling a chance.

Yes, we lost a full time associate in our dept. that ended up with the 1 to 930 shift. Two days, they had a different job. I'm sure there are a substantial amount of people who are in the "wait and see " category, and then it will all depend on the amount of BS they can endure when the poo hits the fan.
