Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tomorrow is the day

As the morning rises and front line managers get told of their futures as well as the 2nd and 3rd levels good luck! Those that swam upstream, stood up for their techs, and challenged the status quo should be the one that continue this journey. God speed!

Update on L1 otherwise, you'd never know anything happened. It is all being kept very quiet.

Prem/wire tech managers will be offered prem/wire tech jobs. You will be required to complete three tasks each day, order your shovel now. When removing bt from buried plant you are required to dig your own pit to save money. That is all.

K--l off landline..... for those not familiar with the network....”landlines” you refer to I assume means twisted copper pair? To outside plant technicians that means nothing. Those lines are the ones uverse, hi-caps, dsl and a handful of other services Ron on. Technicians still repair and maintain outside and premise service wire.....and you can now add fiber to mix.

@imav...from what I see in my state and hear about others, there are many groups with little to no work(TFS). Depending on what happens w/ C&E in the near future. Those folks have told me they have jobs that are being cancelled that are already in their hopper for now(fiber layover). Who knows!

McRotten is just gonna say how we're number 1 in everything including number 1 in diversity, number 1 5g and the first and only network to beat everyone. Seriously, what can he possibly say that would make a difference.

I highly doubt Jeff will discuss anything surplus related during his open mic

After his failure with the way he handled the January email no way Donovan is going to let him comment on the surplus during a live event even if folks in ATO are surpluses today.

“Nothing is happening”.

You are wrong. Several managers in our area got the “phone call” this morning about surplus.

The rumor in my area for I&R is that they want 25 techs (CST & prem techs) under each 1st line. If that's true, half of our managers here will be having a bad day today.

Management will not be offered prem/wire tech positions! Lets post things that are actual facts not crazy ideas that you may want to happen if you are a manager. Also if you do want that option as management, you have no damn idea how bad the Prem/wire techs have it. Coming from an ex prem tech now in core

Prem/wire tech managers will be offered prem/wire tech jobs. Job completion will be required with out any helper tickets. Cut out your own bt or leave as per upper management.

Legacy landline needs to be reduced drastically, especially upper management. The residential landline is dead and unprofitable. The quicker it is k--led off the better. Donovan is choking wireless with his incompetents.

The fact is there is not enough "core" members including C&E to do all the work, so something has to happen other than all the prem/wire techs being gone. Just a simple truth.

I'm hearing (for SE) that its not a merge...wire techs will be gone, all business customers will be handled by Specials and all residential work will be handled by ST/FT(Cable Repair)

As far a management goes, there is no contract. They can get moved any where at any time. Relocated if they want it or not. I've seen it several times.

As far as the single tech dispatch, that is a CEO's wet dream. They have been trying that for years and it has not worked. Now, since it has not worked in the past, by no means will "leadership" not continue to try it again.

The higher up in management you look at you realize they have just slightly above average minds, with extreme levels of psychopathy.

single dispatch as far as what ? CO to prem ? neither seems to be trained enough to handle that.

You people need to pay attention to the real information that is available to you as a employee. Watch the last 4 field Operations town halls, the merger is happening, complete single dispatch by year end.

We don’t know anything that’s why this is described as a rumor. Been told by a few folks that tomorrow is another round of lay-off announcements for management. Again may be untrue as this is all rumor mill until it happens. As far as tfs/iefs merger we don’t know much. Heard from a few first and second levels that it’s planned before the end of the year but as stated by another poster this has been a rumor in the past and didn’t happen. “If” it happens who knows what it might mean. May just mean the teams are joined and work still separated as it is now. Yes they are under different contracts however several contracts are currently in negotiations and se begins negotiations soon so who know what att is planning. TLDR- this is all speculation and rumors.

"Rumor is tfs and iefs merging."

This has been more than rumor for some time. The time frame for it happening has been moved out a few times. Maybe T thinks their ducks are in a row and is finally ready to pull the trigger on this.
