The other thing about this is that dumbovan made a point of saying we had too many managers for the staff and eliminated positions if you didn't have enough direct reports. Then they threw 2 levels of CEOs on it so they could collect their million dollar salaries with the big title.

This is a published fact. Kind of like figuring out a AM is a AM.
AT&T is a holding company. Stephenson is CEO of the holding company. There are 4 legal companies setup under it and each has a CEO. That is not an unusual structure.

All keeping books for their organizations and ready to part ways with the big blue at the drop of a dime. When you run out of people to surplus, you cut the least profitable pieces to satisfy the street.
