DIRECTV Now Ranked 17th out of 18 Streaming Services

This is very disappointing to read In the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2018-2019 Telecommunications Report ranked DIRECT Now second to last out of 18 providers.

I have been using DIRECTV NOW for a couple of years and use it on Apple TV and the Fire Cube. It is extremely buggy and I keep hoping that it will get better. You would think this would be a top priority for AT&T to have a top performing streaming service.

The customers are speaking with their mass disconnections and now this report confirms why they are fleeing. I will be to if it does not get better soon. https://clark.com/technology/tvsatellite-cable/streaming-services-ranked/?utm_source=Clark+Newsletter+List&utm_campaign=e5ab4bd92b-Clark_Daily_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_afa92deb83-e5ab4bd92b-72559065

It's also one of the few in this report that got a worse score in 2019 than 2018.

When I used it, it was horrible. Was not even worth the employee discount price unless you liked to watch a buffering circle--that they could do well. Or read messages like "oops something went wrong, try again later"

@ZarUEHJ-1f-- Is spot on with his comment on the root cause. I recently met one of the developers that just arrived from India to work on DTV Now.

Senior management is clueless since they do not eat their own dog food only use traditional DTV since it is free for them but DTV Now is not.

Now you all know why this streaming service s---s and will never be fixed.

Someone said: "i dont see why this is so hard for them to get right.... playstation vue is even MUCH better than DTV now."

I think it may have something to do with the fact that the current "leadership" (and I use that word loosely) has contempt for technical people. The honchos are accountants and MBAs and their idea of a well run software project is to hire the cheapest labor possible through a contractor like Tech Mahindra and throw 100 people who have no idea what to do at a project. And then, because the honchos are MBAs who are taught to measure everything with whatever tool the business consultants say is "in" now, the people working on the project spend more time accounting for their time than actually creating good software. Low pay, zero commitment characteristic of here today/gone tomorrow contractors, deplorable work surroundings, and incompetent managers hoping the latest fad (agile I'm talking about you) will be the magic bullet all take their toll. That's no way to succeed and it shows in the product. AT&T leadership, if you are listening adjust you attitude: if you want good products you need good people, happy, excited to do the work, and secure in the knowledge that they are important to you. Kleenex employees produce nothing you want to have. You get the big bucks so you own it. Step up and show care and good things will happen.
