So far, I haven’t seen any positive effect of al the records that resulted in cuts and shifts of the workforce. Am I the only one wondering why are the cuts a purpose only to themselves. I understand corporate greed, but seems a little too much to willingly bring down such a big company for the interest of few people.

A monopoly may fail in business because of stupidity in the C bubble, but it just gets taxpayer money to bail it out because it is "too big to fail".
The modern version of monopoly in telecommunications is actually a duopoly, T and Verizon. They have no real competition and are able to crush smaller companies at will. The Feds have helped create this consumer nightmare.
What does AT&T have a monopoly in? First y'all say AT&T is going out of business, then say it's a monopoly? How can a monopoly go out of business? Well, it's not a monopoly, and isn't going out of business.
So basically @oki, you're saying corporate monopolies destroys jobs for the working man and woman while destroying competition for the consumer. I say it's time to break the Death Star up again!
let me explain like a 3 year old baby..........so you have 3 companies, you combined them, and later on after massive layoffs, offshoring and outsourcing, you end up with less employees before any merger was considered? does not sound like shifting....if looks like the swamp and big money going to the few.
