Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When will T pay the price for getting rid of the knowledge and experience?

Just thinking out loud. Not one tier of management has been affected by any of the layoffs lately, except, of course a few lower scapegoats here and there. At the same time a lot of knowledgeable folks that know the work and the business were given up on, and let go rather easily. The sad thing is that that process continues at the layoffs keep happening. Will T pay the price for such behavior any time soon, and what consequences can that produce in the log run?

They already have and don’t care. They still need to get rid of a lot of useless eaters who act like a boss and are given a budget and do nothing but buy software and talk out of their you know what and act like they know what they are doing.

You are way off the mark. ATO layoffs at L2 have been regular for the last 3 years. The impact on the day to day operation and workload of those that remain has been more than palpable, and leadership just gives lip service. They don't care.

It's the same as the analogy with out running the bear. AT&T doesn't have to outrun the bear, or in other words have knowledgeable technicians that can do any and everything in record time. They only need technicians equal to or slightly better than their next largest competitor. Basically, if the other telecom company doesn't have any better results, where are the customers going to go anyway? And if the price is competitive or better then it doesn't even matter if the support is no good for many, cause at the end of the day it comes down to a dollar amount for customers.

It will surface. I can see it now and believe it will escalate. I see so many directors and avp’s I had respect for but they are just trying to survive . Makes me literally sick to my stomach.

They already are paying for the loss of knowledge and experience. Formerly, when a technician would call a support department, he would talk to someone who was highly experienced and professional at their job and knew exactly what they were doing.

Now that all the American professionals have been laid off and replaced with overseas tech support, you get someone who does not speak English as a first language, has never even seen our products in service, and is obviously reading from a script. And if, gawd forbid, it is a complex problem you are calling about, you may find yourself being bounced around from department to department for the next hour and a half.

It's even worse for customers when they call in and they get the very bottom level of overseas tech support.

If this company had leadership that gave a damm about their company, this would be completely unacceptable. But Randall and friends only care about their short sighted greed.

You need to go look at the Jan 29 layoff, all management and lots of your technical support.

I can already see it but it takes about 1 year for the public to notice.
