Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

So Mr or Mrs. FtE, if it’s as bad as you say it is, why don’t you become a contractor if it’s so very good ?

The luxury of being a contractor is not having to suffer through all of the corporate B.S. you likely get paid more as well, so s--- it up!

There are plans for contractor reduction in our area and we are replacing with fte last count I heard was we where hiring 61 fte to replace contingent labor

Marketing just laid off over 50 people. All FTEs. No contractors. In fact some had their contracts extended.

Agree that not having to attend endless, pointless meetings is a benefit. Do you REALLY want to spend hours listening to people talk just to fill time?

Sometimes contractors are not invited to things with the FTE's because management won't allow it.

Sometimes it's just a "click" thing, FTE's have been together for so long they've bonded.

Sometimes FTEs have meetings contractors are not invited to, making contractors feel a little left out. (Not being in a corporate meeting is a benefit of contracting if you ask me).

The people that are saying keep quiet and just do your work are rude, and just saying "be an FTE" is stilly given that this site is focused on layoffs, but they have a point, however crudely stated.

Sometimes, though, the joke is on the FTE's, when the company wants to cut costs and replaces them with contractors, so beware the karma.

I contracted for several years at several companies. No problems. Stop whining. You are there to do a job and you get paid for it.

If you don't like it, leave or become an FTE.

You can't have it both ways.

And companies can't and shouldn't include you on everything because then they can be sued for treating you like an FTE without providing benefits. You can thank prior lawsuits for that.

You should be glad you're not an FTE. We're treated like sh*t, too.

so it sounds like you could consider getting a job as an FTE, you would be happier right.
