@ZQKMaUZ-5bjw Just ignore these people cause they are just running their mouth cause running their mouth is cheap. They know they have a good job with good pay, and their back seat criticism of how to run the business when they have no ability or experience running a Billion dollar company is ridiculous while they have none of the responsibility. They are only upset cause someone might end their great job, otherwise they'd just leave for that better job and there'd be nothing to complain about. The things that are bad for them are simply the natural results of the evolution of technology and open trade across borders. That's something to take up with your local politician, not anything AT&T is responsible for. If AT&T doesn't play by the rules they are given, their competitor will and they'll be out of business.

I get at&t may not be perfect but the grass is not always greener. I worked for a consulting company that was #1 resource for Cisco and was one of the top security consulting firms in the early 2000's. In my office there were 110 Consultants in my local office. We were bought by Lucent and within 3 years they destroyed the company. I was 1 of 5 remaining consultants when I decided to leave. I stayed out of loyalty, I was leading their security consulting arm for the mid Atlantic and thought we could turn it around. I decided to leave primarily to avoid what appeared to be me going on the road again and pressure from my old manager at AT&T who had been trying to get me to come back for over a year. I could have left anytime I wanted to but I stuck in there and in the end it worked out in my favor. I could have waited to get layed off for the severance, although I don't think we were going to lay me off, when I resigned they told me they were planning on me running the local office. My point is every round of layoffs everyone had to go in and see there manager to find out if they were laid off or not. That is a tough working environment, I don't think anyone at AT&T deals with that. If your skills are up to date with what the company needs you should be good either way, either you will have a job here or other companies will want those skills so you are covered that way. Staying around just for the severance because you feel the company owes it to you is BS, first if at&t has been paying you what they said they would for the hours you work then that is all they owe you. Nobody is entitled to be payed to leave a company, having a severance is a great help but not a right.

Let's be real here, and not talk as if recent MVO's were some kind of golden parachute. They simply offered a standard severance (capped at 6 months) for you to leave. The only folks that made sense for were people at retirement age that were going to retire that year anyway. No brainer for them, and in ATO, those were the folks that indeed left. Younger folks that still need to work did not take that offer. If they were serious about an MVO, they would make an offer similar to Verizon's last year. If they offered a year of severance, you'd see folks like myself (50 years old, 25 years service) leave in droves. Job market is very good. It's just tough to walk away from all of the vacation and all. Make it worth my while.

no more MVO...once they offered, people with skills and desire left immediately. ATO is filled with lazy, old and content people. they won't go anywhere. don't do anything but the minimum but who can blame them. att still pays the bills.

If there is an MVO, I hope it is near year end. Would love to take it but get severance pay in 2020 for tax purposes. 2Q earnings for most companies look bad and if T disappoints I think we will see more headcount cuts in 3Q. The selling of assets such as sports networks to pay down debt and looking at all assets for possibilities is a good indication Stephenson and Stephens are in over their heads

They won't see many people take the MVO this time. The good people that were qualified to find work elsewhere already left!

Finance (Arison/Fete) just had its second MVO. Last day on payroll was 6/24. The first one was in November. I've heard rumors of another one this November. They told us the same thing they told ATO, that they wouldn't offer another one. We are waiting for the follow-up layoff.

No more MVO offers anymore. I read it somewhere that it will just be a form to voluntarily quit or intent to quit, something like this... and yes collaboration is to just piss people off. This company is playing dirty games, well, like i said, play stupid games win stupid prizes. I sure as heck not getting done in this freezing 50F building.

For every employees they p-ss-d off add their friends and relatives, they're gonna start losing business so bad. Karma is a b...i....t....c....h....

The days of incentivized retirement are over for now, with the possible exception of the C suite. The goal is fewer employees ASAP. They will do whatever is barely legal to achieve the goal.

Totally agree with Post ID: @ZQKMaUZ-hlb. Say no to MVO.

No logic or benefit to collaboration zones. Nobody is getting more work done, most are getting less done. Foolish and irritating.

It would appear they are attempting to “encourage” managers to leave voluntarily in an effort to save on severance and or larger pension liabilities down the road. I mean, do you really think they are forcing people into drop-in only space to collaborate? Studies have proven that flexible work arrangements improve productivity and it obviously cost more money to have employees in office space so the company is losing money. Think about the cost to set up drop in work stations and run utilities in a building along with security or cleaning staff. The only logical explanation would be that they want a percentage of managers to retire or even better yet leave prior to getting your modified 75 or greater. That being said, an MVO would go against everything they are currently doing. So I wouldn’t hold my breathe right now. I believe Project Collaboration and all the shuffling of Engagement Zones is just a way to push people out the door without paying severance. Let’s say the average ATO manager makes 85k a year, if you make 200 managers miserable enough to quit or retire without a surplus you just saved 8.5 million in severance. Not to mention the pension liability of those not retirement eligible. Then as CRE sells more buildings you just continue to consolidate people into less buildings saving even more money. Don’t expect a “bonus” to retire.

They’re trying to make people so miserable they’ll quit. So far great job on the miserable portion.

The next MVO will be exactly like the previous two... ... the offer will come out... ... Managers will need to respond within 10 working days... it will be “off payroll in 30 days... 6 months severance and NO unemployment claims “.... which is the same as the Surplus Notification except the Surplus will be eligible for 6months Unemployment... same as always.... Company will not pay for anything it doesn’t have to... zero incentive to leave but just leave....
