What Is Legacy "T"

What is Legacy "T".

It is the old original AT&T and all the Bell operating companies. It was declared a monopoly in 1982. And broke up into the RBOC s, (Regional Bell Operating Companies). The Ameritech region was the mid-west, (Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana) ,and makes up the CWA District 4. You are probably to young to have been around at this time, but may have heard about it in History, or a Business class. SBC acquired AT&T in 2000, and wanted to use the AT&T name because of the name recognition.

I believe legacy T as it is referred to today is the company left after the divestiture that wasn’t a rboc. Held long distance along with many other things. Ameritech in today’s world I believe is part of legacy S .

I had 3 years in at divestiture.

Word was to try to stay with T and not the RBOCs.

I went with Ameritech.

And made it to retirement.

Correction, SBC bought ATT in 2006, not 2000.

I worked for GTE at the time of divestiture and couldn't help but notice that American Telephone and Telegraph went from being a predictable interface to a total clusterf* of disparate parts.

Then the Okies and the Cowboys bought back the name, but we on the other side always considered Nynex to be the "real" T.
