Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm sick and tired of not hearing about ATO management layoffs

This lack of gloom and doom about the next major round of surpluses in the only organization that actually matters at this company is annoying.

Correction; ATO is safe, no one have to worry about being surplused they got rid of the skilled folks 1st quarter and didn’t even include the Associate Directors who managed these folks they were looking like deer in headlights when they were told they were caught off guard as well as the employees and were to scared to put their jobs on the line to fight for there hard workers. One AVP had his secretary send emails to employees to meet individually with the AVP and he told lies to some employees. That is the AT&T way of life.

If you get outsources to IBM, you will have a job for a year before they fire you, that is how it worked in previous arrangements.

You get to train your replacement from outside the US

My brother was upper level mobility tech support in the Northeast. He was cut in January. He does not have any sort of NDA around downsizing. He found another job in less than two weeks.

Re the IBM outsourcing- I’m confused by that. I heard of several IBM folks being let go last week. Anyone have clarity on this? Is the plan to outsource most of the Mc Lovin’ .org to IBM? I haven’t heard anything about this. Please share.

ATO managers were hit pretty hard 1st quarter, no official numbers but I’ve heard it was 10-15% across the board and based on location. Although McElfresh says “majority of management surpluses are behind us” it’s safe to assume the managers of union employees currently impacted will be at risk end of third quarter. 4th quarter into 1st quarter of 2020 will be dependent upon results of our debt reduction efforts.

I will say that as a manager I’d never wish for anyone to be impacted by a surplus, management or union. Hopefully we don’t hear about any groups being impacted in the future.

At the end of the day we all work for the same corporation serving same customers with the same company stock in our 401k’s

You won't hear about them.

Mgmt let go in Jan are under NDA's not to discuss it. Hell, WE didn't even know who all got hit until we tried to get in touch with some of them later on trying to get work done.

Only then did we find out they were gone :|

like McLovin said, surplus is much done for the year, but he did not say anything about outsource operations to IBM.

It is concerning that ATO never gets the same “ heads-up” warnings that the other orgs get on this site.

Managers get hid just as hard if not harder you just don’t hear about it because there’s no union to report it to.

Both union and 1st level managers have been hit. All managers don't have union repors but they are hacking at both. Sad we turn on each other when neither group is the cause.
