Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wells Fargo Strategy 2022

We're being told that "An important communication about Strategy 2022" will be made on Wednesday July 17th, at 11:00am EST via town hall event from the Leadership Team which will be live streamed to team members at all locations.

Word we're getting is that this meeting is not one to be missed, and it will include more info on staffing matters. Our local management seems uncomfortable talking about it.

Speculation: they won't actually lay people off DURING this meeting, but they will announce that they're going to START letting people go, likely sooner rather than later so as to avoid expenses related to year-end PTO, RSR's, Q1 bonuses, 401k matches, etc.

Prior poster missing the point completely. It's not about whether WFH makes sense or is a trend.

It's being used by WF as a tactic (via WFH elimination) to make TMs quit voluntarily (avoiding severance payouts AND unemployment claims). Period.

WF could care less about what makes sense as long as they cut lots of employees to offset lawsuit payouts, steep increase in risk hires (to address consent orders, etc.) and can continue to provide acceptable return to shareholders. WF is in survival mode, NOT growth mode. And they will be for at least a decade, if they survive that long.

Applying any other "logic" re: WFH is futile and meaningless.

The having some main "hubs" where workers are seated together in some main locations is a rather antiquated plan. Once technology became capable of having online screen sharing there really was not much need to have the employees sit together in a common location. It is virtual, global, online sharing now. Phones and computers connect people all over the world in virtual common screen sharing sessions. Sometimes people who sit on the other side of the cube wall just use online communication with the person on the other side of the cube wall rather than getting up and walking over to that person's desk to speak in person. There really is no need at all to consolidate employees in central employees hubs, located in only some cities. If the person did not tell you that they were working remotely, and you did not sit next to them in an office, one would never know if they were at an office desk or at home working remotely.

I hope that Wells Fargo gets rid of the ALL of the Managers who are the first to leave early on a Friday while forcing some, but not all, of their internal employees to spend the entire weekend working to meet some project target date, etc. Consistently, Weekend, after weekend, after weekend, for months at a time, You know who you are, those Managers. Then ask why the internal employee is sounding sick during a meeting. Why the internal employee mentioned that they did not have time to keep their house in order, etc. Ditto on the internal Wells Fargo Managers who "force" the temporary contractors to stay late at night to get some project done, and come in on the weekend, to get some project done, without providing that temporary contractor any overtime pay, just the regular scheduled 40 hours per week pay.

As someone already said, this is the Saul's Technology Town Hall that will be hosted by the NYC leadership team discussing WF Technology Strategy 2022.
