Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Well, this is awkward

How much trouble would somebody be in if they were caught by a manager looking at information on job openings from a competitor?

Asking for a friend.

Technically that person is using company assets for non-company purposes-violation of code of conduct. Not very smart.

Yep. Most managers are not the enemy ;they are even more miserable than us techs. It’s the executives and VPs that are greedy w h o r e s. How many VPs can this company accumulate anyway. It’s id--tic.

If you have been surplused or are on the bump list, you can actually go to job interviews on company time. Managers may not tell you that, but it’s standard protocol during surpluses.

I am a uverse manager, no one can blame you, we all have families and look for our own interest, companies lack of employees appreciation been gone for a long time, so the employees loyalty, it’s business of putting bread on my table nothing personal

As someone who worked at AT&T for 15 years(surplussed in March), worked through my vacations, late nights, etc. only to be let go because of the state I live in(even though everyone was remote), I say don't worry about it. Be loyal to you and your best interests. If I had a time machine, I would have looked and interviewed, as well.

None. I highly doubt you signed any anti compete contract when you started with T.

Anyone can't look for any job anywhere they want. No one around here has a "no compete" clause in their contract for employment. AT&T isn't a desirable enough place to work to be able to get away with that sort of thing.

Tell your friend not to worry. I was the manager that saw him looking for another job and quite frankly I was on the same job board looking too along with my Director.
