Does anyone know what the difference is between AT&T Ready to go positions verses In Home Experts? There are online options if you order AT&T services a representative will personally deliver & set up the new phone. Per the job board In Home Expert are direct sales personnel. I was interested in applying but I wasn't sure if there was a difference. Is this a secure position within AT&T? Any suggestions or opinions?

That is not true! IHX is a huge failure and nobody likes them. Thay put through orders for internet fiber where there is no fiber and lie and tell customers thay get a free phone.
IHX is a safer job than prem techs but in time every job is at risk
AT&T is not losing millions of customers per quarter. It has had net adds in postpaid phone mobility sales for the last year.
@ZHSDMWl-1boy ... look up how many complaints within the company and how many complaints the BB has against IHX for fraud and lying to customers and you'll see that its not a dream job. IHX is a lawsuit waiting to happen, they are door to door salesman, depending on the state you live in that is illegal. Techs will treat you like c-ap, ( you are a manager in their eyes), and managers will treat you just as bad.

In home experts go along with dispatches for entertainment installs, upgrade, move, and repair orders then deliver a white glove experience and use that to cross sell wireless service. The channel has had enormous growth and is about to start its third year nationally and fourth year overall.
The overhead is extremely low, it reduces entertainment cancel orders by around 20% where they are dispatched, and shaves an average of 22 minutes off prem tech service calls while increasing NPS scores by around 12% and reducing rollbacks 24%. This cost savings nearly pays the channel’s entire cost before the first sale.
Add on to that that this channel turned net losses into net gains in mobility the 3 of the last 4 quarters (4th quarter would have been a net increase anyway) and you can see why this channel won a Goldie Award from the national corporate kickoff this year. In fact this channel has half the churn of retail and its customers have the 2nd highest lifetime value of any distribution channel (2nd only to Apple Retail relationship).
It is extremely profitable and the long term future is bright as it will be a big part of the customer experience with Project Osprey.
In Home Experts are sales associates who follow Prem Techs around on new installs (and now many repairs too because they're having trouble getting enough sales) to try to sell cell phone plans to customers.
They BS with the customer, install AT&T apps on their cell phone, BS a little more, and work their way around to getting the customer to switch to an AT&T cell phone plan. Although they don't actually manage any one, In Home is considered a management position to avoid having them join the union. Considering how worthless the union has been for us Prems, that may or may not be a bad thing.
It seems like most of the time the In Home leaves without making a sale. I really can't see this being a secure, long term position.

What interested you in working part-time at AT&T?
I worked in the cell phone industry for several years before graduating college. In 2008 when we were about to have our first child, we really wanted my wife to be a stay at home mom. So, I popped into my local AT&T store and found out they had a posting for a Part-Time Retail Sales Consultant. I got an interview, was hired and now have two children. It's eight years later and I'm still here!
You get to get your hands on the latest and greatest technology. What is the coolest thing you’ve gotten to be trained on and why?
Working here has allowed me to really be in on the industry that has changed so much with the smart phone and tablet evolutions. I am now regularly consulted at my full-time job and by friends and family. I would be so far "behind the times" if I didn't work here.
How would you describe the benefits of working Part-Time in Retail at AT&T?
This is the best part time job ever. I get a pension, 401k with matching, tuition assistance and a dental plan to augment the one I have at my full-time job – plus paid vacation and holidays.

I'm currently a full-time student. The flexibility this job has given me to match my college schedule has been wonderful! Not only does the company give me enough time to go to school, but I also gain real world sales and customer service experience while at work.

AT&T not only provides great benefits to part-time employees (paid time off, insurance, tuition reimbursement, and much more) but the biggest benefit I’ve taken away from working here is being able to work in in a fun, technology-driven and exciting environment.
How does this part-time job differ from other part-time jobs?
I have worked a few other part-time jobs and although they were great at the time, this has been the best part-time job I have had. Not only are the people here amazing, but the biggest difference between this and other jobs is the ability I have to control my pay check. I love working in sales and being able to control how much I get paid at the end of every month.

I'm a big family person, and I like to travel. Working a part-time schedule leaves me with plenty of time to spend at home with my family and good friends, as well as a lot of opportunity for visiting new, exciting places.

What interested you in working part-time at AT&T?
I moved from San Antonio, TX to Austin, TX with the expectation to be the first in my family to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree. I chose a degree in Communications because it’s what brings people closer together and allows our individual personalities to thrive. Understanding that AT&T is the leading company in that regard, I was eager to join a family that helped me not only grow occupationally, but personally. AT&T has definitely helped me do that.
