AT&T is actually hiring technicians in Mesa, AZ when there isn’t enough work to keep the existing technicians busy. Most techs are only busy about 20 hours per week with minimal productivity to show. Yet, AT&T has these illusions of grandeur that the work will come when the sales teams start selling more. They’re definitely putting the cart before the horse! The work in AZ is just not there, yet they keep hiring technicians for God only knows why!
I just quit my job of 10 plus yrs, i had enough with their bs. Its time to move on, T is not the only ticket.
Why would they offer early retirement now that they have proven their involuntary early retirement surplus for those within a few years of mr 75 has proved quite effective
@3gox, you truly are a pathetic sort and misguided that you actually believe one specific generation is more apt to sit on their butts over another. Having said that, there is a better than even chance (speaking as a Boomer) that one of us is still living at home with the parents....save your tale of whoa for them!
If they want to get rid of the older contracted non management employee, they will have to pay. Otherwise, they will have to lay off according to seniority, which is the younger workers. The old workers with the most service, won't budge without a really good offer.
It's called layoff...if they don't have to pay, why would they.

Why don't the younger workers sit around doing the minimal amount of work then? The older workers can't just sit around cause of the pay and benefits are so good, because you say the company is cheap.
The company is too cheap. If they would take into account how much money they would actually be saving by not paying salaries and insurance for older workers, they would give a really good offer for them to leave, so us young folks could keep our jobs. In the meantime, the older workers will just sit around and do the minimal amount of work required to not get let go, while everybody else takes up the slack for them. Makes perfect sense. NOT
The only offer to anyone, craft or management, is a surplus offer. Many good people have already been let go with more to follow. And many have decided to just leave in their own.
Never going to happen for union represented employees.
Union put it on the table (IBEW21)....ATT rejected it. The blood bath will continue. They have 81 volunteers so far ....that leaves another 119 to be surpluses AND there’s still another cut for the next quarter. Senselessly letting the younger work force go....I have 18 months to go and I’ll be gone. If they had only come out with a nice offer most of us would have left.
My guess is they offer same voluntary offer they have been and if they don’t get the numbers they move on to the involuntary list they already have.
Why would they give an incentive when they can just let you go? They don’t care! Randall and the John boys need all of the money!
Maybe for mgmt--probably not for Craft
