Round 1 of the ATT Midwest surplus of 200 employees did not yield enough participants in the SIPP offer. Round 2 is now extending it to all work groups in the affected area. Rumors are they have about 80 takers so far. SIPP offers have to be completed by next Wednesday. Then the heavy stuff starts!

What about the TLA the transitional leave of absence? Where if you are able to retire within 2 years you keep your benefits but go off payroll. I heard it it was 2 years but also 1 year.
Agreed...heard union put it on the table and ATT shot it down. I’m on cruise control, show up for work on time, play the numbers game, keep moving and collect the check. 18-30 months then I’m out of here.
I bet they’d get another 120 of the retirement eligible to take SIPP if they’d sweeten the pot some. What they’re offering isn’t but a few months pay after they tax the heck out of it. Their offer just isn’t incentive enough to make people who are on the fence of retiring or working a few more years to take the bait. Heck, if they’d make a decent offer to those who have 30+ years they’d get more than they would want and that would save so many of the younger peoples’ jobs. That just makes sense.
He’s basically saying we are FKd.. they need another 120 or so guys to volunteer. And they are trying to get the other 120 from areas that were not hit. If the company doesn’t get the desired number they will pick from any area until they reach the 200 mark.
This is a craft offer. City of Chicago splicers and lineman were NOT offered the SIPP ...since they did not get 200 to take the SIPP, they are no offering it to Chicago.
Can you be a little more detailed? Not understanding what you’re saying. Maybe an example or two? Are you saying look for vsip match in other groups? That sounds good for they guys surplussed now, but really screws those other groups when they get hit 4th quarter and 1st quarter 2019.
