Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Give the CO techs a offer.

We are waiting for it.

I am tired of stealing checks.

Pay me to leave

Anyone that has the rule of 75 should take it.

Dont give me this c-ap of being too young. If you are left you will be asked to do 2-3 times the work and for a glorious $2000/ year raise. The work of 3 techs for the price of one. Hell take OT the company saves while you lose.

Holding the cards here.

CWA and AT&T both lose here.

Do the right thing and open an offer.

Mass exodus guaranteed!!

Until an offer I will do just enough not to be fires.

Leaving the dream!!

Oh that explains why I saw a vendor installing a new HAL9000 on the third floor.

Co techs won’t be replaced after attrition, field techs will run the fibers & place sfp’s in the central office etc. Frontier & Centurylink already went that way.

There’s a formula for your pension band you input your years of service x the multiplier to get your monthly annuity in retirement. My question how do I know the multiplier if I retire in 15 years, does the fidelity pension estimator take this into consideration. I know that our state union employees (government) get 2.5% x average highest 3 years salary x years of service - which is a lot but I don’t think they get social security, ours seems like a lot less.

Funny that you can't do 3 times the work for the extra $2000, but you had no problem when you were only working 1/3 of the time and sitting around collecting the whole paycheck.

At 50 years old with 25 years service in craft your lump sum pension will be somewhere between $325k to $375k. Same example with monthly annuity is $1350 - $1700 a month. Depending on what job titles you held and any night shift differential you may have earned. So what you’re recommending is an employee in that situation walk away from a $7k a month job and and attempt to live on that pension alone for at least 12 years with the only additional income being early social security at 62 ? A pension will need to last you the rest of your life which averages 78 today. Basic math. Of course most have funds in their 401k but the longer you work the better. Block out the haters, focus on your job and enjoy a comfortable retirement.

I say make offers so we can leave the bags who must stay here.

I say make a general offer to all employees and then if you need to move people around afterward then do it. Clear out some sh-- bags and make some room for people who actually want to be here.

When you are assuming they need techs...you are wrong.

The CO's had manned offices. Now 3 people cover 7-15 CO's. That is the same all throughout the company.

Att didnt have to cut your pay they added work and never replaced people who left.

People are waiting for an offer. If you are craft you the pay increases went to taxes, the union, and healthcare. You remained for your pension. If you are pension eligible you are losing by staying.

You are a fool if you think the paycheck is in the same ballpark.

They are going to have to pay me to leave until then...stealing checks!!

"If you are left you will be asked to do 2-3 times the work ... The work of 3 techs for the price of one"

Well, if remaining people will have to do the work of 3 techs, then AT&T needs all 3 techs, so why initiate a buyout? The logic isn't registering here.

It's nice that they do have buyouts in order to get volunteers when there is a surplus situation, but your own remarks indicate that's not the case.

I know there are quite a lot of techs inside and out who are hoping for an offer here in the west.

Don’t have the technical background to understand how but heard a couple of years ago they plan to put a lot of the CO functionality into the cloud and collapse quite a few into super C.O.’s. When you think about the downsizing in that organization it has been pretty drastic. The CO dispatch centers have taken a huge hit the past 2-3 years.

Rule of 75 is more than just the number.

When you take FMLA your time in service is not counted..

I if you are under 50 what makes you think you are riding it out and why would you?

You can walk with a pension and benefits. Young enough to work 20 elsewhere and not be beaten like a dog.

You are losing money even at 40.18/hour.

Your pension took a c-ap right?

If you were just going to squeeze out a few more years because of your pension losses you are working for free for a c-ap healthcare you pay into the same as if you left.

Anyone who knows money, you are losing.

So tell me which one of us is smarter mr work ethic guy???

You think i want to work 3 times as hard for less?

The hell are you thinking.

I assure you I am craft.

Keep being beat down.

If you are told the same story long enough you will believe it.

You work for att by choice. They pay you for your work. They take me away from my family so you are damn right I expect good pay and benefits from a company that has profited in the Billions every year for how long now? The bankrupt big 3 still has their healthcare and receive fat profit sharing bonuses.

When you have been living in the same cage for a lifetime you see the why the owners reward themselves off of your performance.

Remain in chains if you wish.

But

Dont think for a second this is the same company I worked hard for.

Their neglect is their own

Now they want me to jump through more hoops?

No thanks.

Buy me out.

I dont care about your motto company man.

You never would think for yourself anyway.

I dont sweat people like you.

Prepubescent teens have more original thought.

Check the rule of 75 in your contract very carefully. I was surplussed last year. The CWA told me I was not eligible for the Rule of 75. 2 months after I left, Benefits sent a a packet telling me I was eligible. FYII: If you get surplussed, the best place to call for advice and help is Benefits. The CWA will not talk to you.

The OP is not a central office tech, he/she is a poser just trying to create problems, or more likely wants to be a cent off tech but are no openings.

An offer? The rest of us are getting forced out with termination pay and you’re worried about an offer? Go pound sand.

They already made an offer in Texas. I know 1 took it in Austin and a second in San Antonio. Didn’t hear of any others taking the VSP. The next offer will be involuntary.
