Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why do YOU stay?

For those that have made the decision to stay with Wells even if your job has been eliminated, what do you say is the reason you want to stay? Here are the common things I’ve heard from my team members in my office.

A) I have so much in RSUs that I can’t afford to leave

B) I would leave if I could find a better/another/any job

C) I’m just waiting my time out until I can retire

D) I love this place and would never dream of leaving

Pick one of these options or let us know why you stay.

To some of us, the only reason we don't leave is because at this point, with it being so obvious that's what they want, we refuse to give them the pleasure. I complained about a situation to ER over 6 months ago, SIX MONTHS and I know don't go to ER thinking they'll help you, I had no choice some else notified them of the situation and as well all know it's a fireable offense to not assist them. So SIX months ago they started investigating illegal and unethical actions by several managers in my upstream chain, SIX MONTHS, and I have not heard anything since then, and when asked, I am told we're looking into it. There's your progress OCC, this is the new Wells Fargo, a different logo and still the same old thieves.

Because every day I keep saying to myself, no place can get more messed up than this, this HAS to be the bottom, and the next day, they continue to show me the opposite. From stealing bonuses, to making us take non retaliation training while they retaliate against us, each day brings a new bent over the couch and done experience at Wells Fargo.

I make a lot of money and know that Wells is going to be just fine.

Leaving soon, staying for the mortgage and to feed the dogs for now.

The changes to otherwise great teams are disheartening.

C. Waiting my time out until I can retire. Still doing the best job that I can, but I am just weary of all the scandals, mixed messages and uncertainty. Ditto for a lot of people in my unit.

Employee turnover has increased in the past year, and most of our top talent under the age of 50 is already long gone. Those us who are left are mostly over 50. The older people have a MUCH better work ethic.

I assume that most of the people who are going to be laid off are over 50. Has anyone running Wells Fargo even thought of what that will do to some units? If the over-50 crowd is already all that's left in some units, there is a lot of knowledge that will be shoved out the door.

The only real benefit Im walking with is a severance package that will take me to full retirement age. I’m happy just to be DONE with the place.

There are several mid-level managers that were at retirement based in rule of 80 but still too young to really stop working. The best option is to get a package and then retire while one severance. You can get paid for up to a year and the hit the retirement button to lock in all your retirement benefits.

If you have been hired into banking in the last 10-15 years, you won’t have any of the retirement benefits because WF (and other big companies) cut those for new hires. Things like pension plan, healthcare paid in retirement, cash balance plan and so much more.

I’ve been wanting to quit/retire for a long time. I hung in for the severance. Was cut this week. It was worth it.

Sooo if you are still working, you didn't retire (previous post makes no sense.)

You just got a retirement package from WF?

I retired but it was also the kick needed to find a better job with career opportunities. In hindsight, I wish I had moved earlier rather than waiting several years so I could retire. I also loss some PTO/vacation time which really $ucks now but I’m in a much better work environment now.

Telecommute, the minute they take that away, myself and about 30,000 of my coworkers will leave I assume, it’s the only reason to work for this corrupt to the core establishment.

I left long ago, along with severance and RSU. I went to a company that recognized talent and valued ethics above all. I become a millionaire several years later.

Stop being cowards.

For folks with 10 or more years in, all that PTO and the amount of severance when they eventually cut you is hard to leave.

Starting at another company you will lose Atleast 2 weeks time off and still run the risk of lay-off only with little to no severance as insurance.
