Southeast contract

What will happen when the Southeast contract expires in August? 900 people under that contract just got surplused. Can a surplus be declared before the 15th of the last month of a quarter? And would people get the benefit of the existing contract?

Yes, us folks in IT along with other management are wrapping up our CP19 training in preparation of being deployed in the field. There always a batch of us in the midst of this training as a contract comes up for renewal. Reading the post below suggests the union may have some leverage at this point in time with 3 districts all seeking a new contract at one time. A strike would make for some interesting times ahead as folks get deployed to the field leaving some groups with a limited staff. This point raised in the previous post must be why our management suggested there could be a stroke this time.

I believe the SE contract goes out about the same time one of the regions in CA goes.

( MW is already without a contract and has been for some time )

So, if their smart. . . . .

The Union will have THREE full regions that can go out on strike at the same time. ( Why do you think AT&T works so hard to offset these contracts ? )

One region can go out without much issue as management can handle putting out the fires until the strike ends. THREE regions though ? No. They don't have near enough manpower to handle that.

Mgmt is already doing strike training and getting their assignments should a strike actually happen though it's merely a formality. There is no way they can keep pace with that many going out all at once.

The "union" will negotiate a superb contact that is so so fair.. They will get you a $500.00 raise but then you will have a $7500 deductible on insurance that cost you $1000 per month

Go CWA -- Just PLEASE GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

The window for truly productive strikes is well over. The world changes now matter how many temper tantrums I throw.

In the SE, we have worked without a contract 4 or 5 times. The surplus announcements kept coming every quarter, right on schedule.

1vge Every day the leverage gets weaker. While Legacy still generates quite a bit of revenue, it’s percentage of the companies revenue has fallen substantially. Wireless is over 50 percent by itself.

It would be illegal then so we should delay any contract

To answer your questions we will either get a new contract, work without one, or strike. Surplusses are always announced by the 15th before the end of the quarter. Whatever the latest contract says should be followed to handle the surplus

At this stage in time with the company and all it's transitions into a media business, the union's position and leverage could not possibly be weaker. I do hope for a fair and honest contract agreement, but honesty, just be thankful if your job remains available. We have no choice but to invest in ourselves with new skills and knowledge that can be utilized.

Once the contract is up it would be illegal to layoff or make any material changes while in negotiations. Board charges are being readied because i am shure at t will do it anyway

you will work without a contract and continue to pay dues

Basically Status quo unless the company would like to change a few things

Contracts are a thing of the past. The company isn’t interested in negotiating or settling any contracts unless it is there “final best offer.” Take it or leave it. The union has no leverage to negotiate anything. What are they going to do? Strike? Come on, that just makes the replacement of the workforce that much easier.
