I owe you a big thanks and a case of the finest beer. I used that time to do some extensive job searching to prepare for Friday’s news. Out of all this BS, I was actually able to find a better job and avoid dealing with all of this surplus c-ap that would have likely sent me either off of payroll or traveling hundreds of miles back and forth just to stay employed. Good luck to everyone affected by this surplus and use the next few months wisely.

To whomever said the inside tech jobs don't get hit you are SADLY mistaken... its worse here. We constantly fight with INDIA and other out OF THE COUNTRY teams from trying to overstep their boundaries . THEY PIT regional centers against one another by sharing the work company wide, while they make decisions which group out of the few can be cut or closed! It is not easy to sit on pins and needles. WE DO GET CUT.

I’m in a “cushy” tech job. Did construction and industrial jobs for years, then went to school and got a degree. Let me tell you something, my manual labor jobs never made me go home and drink or hate life. I’ll trade back any day. I work more now and have way more stress and responsibility. I’d gladly go back to field work.

Another brainwashed union employee who thinks everyone should be rolling around in the mud with him. Even though OPT (Lineman) is an “outside” title like Systems Tech or Digital Tech in Business Services, I can tell you with no reserve that they have almost zero in common except for all 3 being employees that drive a company vehicle.
I think that he meant an inside "Techy" job not a Tech job.....In IT or somewhere......
I’m a systems tech, one of those “inside cushy jobs”. Do you have your CCNA? Can you configure an enterprise network, and program an option 81 or Avaya Aura? We also pull cable , extending demarcs or terminating LAN drops. We work pretty damn hard but if you think you got what it takes then apply.
I don’t know why they are secretive about it either. Just give people a heads up so they can be better prepared and move on with their lives. If it wasn’t in the contract, I believe this company would tell everybody they were getting laid off with no notice whatsoever.
To the OPT with 22 years, hopefully you have a decent amount of options for bumping with that much seniority.
They have cut inside for years. Most all of the inside jobs are gone. The company has cut them to the point there's not enough of them anymore to do the work. It's obvious you have no idea what an inside tech does if you believe there job can be done anywhere just with a pc.
That leak has definitely been spot on.
Never understood why at&t is so secretive about this stuff anyways. If they know the numbers why not be transparent about them and allow employees affected to prepare or search months in advance.
