Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Where is my buyout?

Do we really need to play this game?

I am here collecting a check and will do so until I am offered a buyout. I do my 2.5 hours and paid for 8.

Productivity? Effeciency? Utilization?

None of that is on my check.

Your numbers are what I use to wipe.

Showing up is 100% of the job, kicking my feet up while you pay me is your problem.

Time to put to bed uneducated blatherings and fake news “strategies” before I go Nuts!

The Pension Benefits Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) is a government run agency, since 1974, and EVERY Pension based company pays into it....AT&T, Verizon, and the like....yes, you get the idea....and when a company declares bankruptcy then PBGC steps in using a “maximum guarantee table.” Like Social Security, it pays out monthly benefits based on age. If T were to go bankrupt then the PBGC would take over.

Younger pensioners will get less, but because they live longer, they collect longer and older pensioners get more money but usually collect over a shorter life span and to infer that the PBGC pays out “pennies on the dollar” is so misrepresenting of the truth, it staggers the mind!

“The PBGC maximum guarantee for participants in single-employer plans is determined using a formula prescribed by federal law that calls for periodic increases tied to a Social Security index.” The monthly amounts you could be entitled too will open your eyes wide.

Before choosing to take your Pension as a lump sum out of fear, not to mention bad advise, go to the PBGC website, read, learn and then put your questions together and call....be educated and make your decision based on facts.

Bankrupt company does worse than freeze a pension. You become a ward of the state I. E. the PBGC that pays pennies on the dollar of your previous pension.

Here's to hoping that all of you dead wood employees have your pensions cut when the company fails. Enjoy your leisure days now because the company won't be funding them later!.

This right here is someone with the checker mindset.

IF the company could rid themselves of me they would. It is not my fault I know my job and am capable of completing tasks.

It is the company's fault for coming out with measurements.

Now I only have to work at the same speed as the slowest.

Checkmate.

At best they would freeze my pension.

It would still break your heart I hold the cards.

"Enjoy your leisure days now because the company won't be funding them later!"

We believe you.. Thus the strategy of taking OUR money and running.

Thanks for the heads up though, @Z9x3XS8-1hod.

Eversince we were forced to deal with coming to wotk 5x a day, dealing with noise, traffic and again noisy environments , as much as i would like to be productive... i just cant. I literally have to wait until my cubicle mate shut up talking before i can resume any work.. how does he talk? Like an hour or 2.. then on my front, theres also someone elses talking for an hour or 2... i have to stop working because i cannot concentrate... so yes, im working 2 to 3 hrs and paid for 8.... not like i want to... i just cant concentrate. Not my problem.

Good luck putting more work on me.

Once again your numbers have nothing to do with my work.

They will figure out real quick they are short staffed.

Chess not checkers.

Yes but you probably know a lot about the network you maintain for them in that 2.5 hrs. They make plenty from your experience. You’ll start having to work more once they lay off the junior techs.

@oal

Entitled?

I am helping them out.

Unless they are willing to can every employee based on seniority they have a way to go snag me.

Protection my man!!

What, my numbers?

LOL. GOOD F'N LUCK with that!!

Contract protects me.

I fix all the problems.

Those numbers are simply a scam to have more work done. Cant touch me because of my contract.

You want more work done???

Pay me more money. Give me the healthcare you stole to build FIBER and 5G.

Your numbers mean nothing to me

It is a managment bonus...which has nothing to do with me.

At 40.18 and waiting for more money a buyout is cheaper.

God knows I will only do enough to not get fired.

What now???

I hold the cards here.

You just work here.

Nut swinging billy

Bring Randall in and I will slap him too.

Ah the bloated, entitled union employee. Why buy you out when they can fire you. Your description of your work should be enough.

Once the layoffs started I'm my group (offshoring) I knew my fate and my work ethic was not the same. I knew my turn was coming and really stopped caring. I was overpaid compared to my team and old...3 months later I was hit. Just being honest...I only miss the paycheck.

“401 and Pension money will rid debts and start clean.”

@fhc, tell us that’s a typo Grasshopper and that you can’t be that financially inept. To live beyond your means is one thing but to use tax exempt money to get back to even! You’re obviously not 59 years of age and the moment you dip into it you have a limited time period in which you must repay it....Pension or 401K, you will pay a very stiff tax penalty if not repaid.

You obviously need the money and as you said, “it is a pay cut to stay.” Don’t wait, run for the better paycheck and payoff your debts before you retire but DO NOT use retirement money to eliminate debt.

I hate to say it but I am there.

20 years with this company and still too young to leave but it is a pay cut to stay.

Healthcare will go up, 2-3 times the work, and more than likely never see 30 years.

I would jump elsewhere with a buyout.

401 and Pension money will riddebts and start clean.

I hope everyone is offered something.

This is a horrible company to work for.
