I want to be laid off. I'm praying to be laid off. Every day. And I've been here for more than two decades. What does that say about AT&T? Or more to the point, about those who are leading this company right now?

Critical thinking eludes you. If you ran a business and an employee tells you they plan on leaving, would you give them a buyout offer or wait for them to voluntarily leave?

me I left got tired of moving from this org to that org just to face the same thing day in day out. didn't need their surplus blood money and the market was hot where I live.
it isn't about having skill or being good at your job any more there it is about politics and life is too short. too bad because I know some really talented people who left and are rocking it at their new place.
I worked in the South East region and I was very happy when I got surplussed last year. I made the rule of 75 and got 7 months severance pay and kept my insurance. If you resign, you get nothing except your 401K and pension. Do not quit unless you have a job waiting, make T lay you off and pay severance and other benefits.
I asked my 2nd level to lay me off last Sept if there were going to be layoffs in our group. I was so happy that he did this. I had 28 years and I was just so swamped with work and had a hard time sleeping at night trying to figure out how I was going to get these .com companies their 1gb, 10gb, and 100 gb circuits. Everything was a VP escalation and that is no way to work. It worked great for me but I feel sorry for those that feel like I did and don't have the years that I had. I still don't understand why someone with a good degree works for AT&T in places like Silicon Valley. The phone company treated me very well for many years, and I am very appreciative for this, but they have sure changed the last few years.
I feel the same way. Every day I look at my email and hope to see a MVO or surplus notice. I already told my leadership of my intent to leave, but they don't want to put me on a list because I have skills. I have plenty of other options available, but I'd rather be on a reduction list to help my team mates that want or need to stay.
I feel your pain. The work environment is so toxic. And the workload is insane. And with taking teleworking away we are all stuffed in filthy offices with third worlders. It’s a disgrace.
