Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is the grass really greener?

I wonder what I would see if I looked under the “hood” of all the other competitors layoff sites. My point is, it’s not always greener somewhere else. If we get surplussed along the way, don’t expect that you will leave the old grievances behind....those of us that survive, maybe we count our blessings.

If you don’t believe me, take a stroll over to VZ Layoffs for a few days and see what I mean

If employment at at&t is so horrible, just quit! Nobody is forcing you to work for them! Do everyone a favor so we don’t have to hear the constant whining and complaining. I bet you people are a really joy to work with.

“To 1gip. "AT&T pays at least 20-30% less than what you are we worth". How many jobs are there where a person with only a high school diploma can earn $90,000 after just 5 years of service? That is the base pay for an MST in Ca. Add in double time and meal allowances and they can easily make in the mid $100000's. The base pay is about the same that my wife, a teacher with a masters degree and 15 years of service made.”

Dude, this is isn’t typical anymore, those jobs are not available in numbers and on are the way out at some point. I’m sure you know this???

I’m guessing your wife has better pay and benefits than most folks in other states with her masters, being in California. Her masters also qualifies her for more non labor work than you if need be.

Wait a minute, the CWA will protect our jobs in return for the millions in dues they collect, Sorry, that's just a pipe dream, but keep the $$$ flowing in.

"AT&T management is probably the most incompetent, arrogant, a-- kissing group of people"

You're right. Most AT&T management is useless. The more cuts the merrier.

I was surplused awhile ago and devastated at the time. As it turned out, it was to my advantage. Because of the company size, work at att is very siloed. In my area at least, Att employees were very limited in their skill sets. I quickly found a better paying, more technically challenging job.

One of the best things about my new job... no productivity measurement tools. I work very hard most of the time. But if there is a slow day, it's ok. I won't have a manager getting on my case for not making numbers like I did at att.

BYE... You have nothing useful to provide. Try some HS grammar classes. Periods, commas and punctuation make you seem relevant. Might even help you in you next endeavor.

I left last November after 15 years. Here is a short list of all the reasons AT&T is much worse then their competitors and partners.

  • AT&T pays you at least 20-30% less than what you’re worth. No, that’s not an exaggeration

-AT&T management is probably the most incompetent, arrogant, a-- kissing group of people

-Other companies recognize and reward talent. AT&T does not

-When results are bad, other companies acknowledge the problem and work to fix it. AT&T tried to spin it. I mean how can you possibly believe that a loss of 500,000 subscribers last quarter is somehow a good thing!?!?

-Other companies will not micromanage the hell out of you

-You aren’t forced to relocate for a lateral. Or worse, forced into some third word office to collaborate. Tell the truth AT&T. That was nothing more than a ploy to force people to quit

-Other companies have much better customer service. Pretty sure AT&T gets a kick out of tossing a customer from one awful service rep to another.

-I could go on...but so yourself a favor and get out. For those of you not sure because of the pension, just realize that current management will run the company into the ground on their current trajectory and your pension with it

I've looked at other sites, and although there may be complaints and worries over job insecurity, it's NOTHING like what you see on the AT&T posts.

AT&T is the worst of the worst. All the management trolls may come here and try to polish this turd all nice and shiny, but it still stinks to high heaven.

"Fact is that "you don't know what you don't know""

Fact is everyone I've ever talked to who left AT&T wish they hadn't. They were all craft personnel who had contracts to protect them versus management dummies.

yes, it is, Fact is that "you don't know what you don't know", all you can do is assume, to take for granted, to take upon, to don, or to undertake.at AT&T the shared meaning of “to suppose,” presume is usually used by vested people when you suppose based on probability, while assume is used when you suppose without any evidence, while doers are executors , they know the difference and are in charged of their own destiny.

I work for a Big bank technology Hub, left AT&T in 2017.
