Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Severance Question

I’ve been laid off recently and I’ve signed the severance paperwork, a couple of days after that I get a call and I was offered another job at T , just at a different location. If I apply to that position do I lose my severance? The paperwork was signed but I haven't received it yet.

For those that "took the package" either at the end of Feb or elected to stay the extra month to the end of March, when will the severance checks be coming? "Direct Deposit Actually"?

Simple solution, take back the new job offer, return the money if you have it (if not no worries) collect your pay if it suits you then decide if you seek new employment in the meantime. It’s not a difficult choice, especially if you have family to support.

The 3.6% Unemployment Rate sounds good on tv, but only if your part of that %. Keep working until it’s your choice to leave.

leave - T doesn't deserve you leave and find a much better place to work - it won't be hard.

30 days or less off of payroll you'd have to pay back 80% of the severance pay.

You lose your severance anyway, even if you ‘broke’ employment. Read the terms, but I believe if you are rehired within 6 months or even a year(?) you have to pay severance back.

If you stayed on Payroll after signing off to receive Severance Pay upon Separation from ATT and you received a Job Offer because you applied for Job postings on Career Path in attempt to avoid Surplus. If you accept the Job Offer you will not receive Severance because you never broke employment.

You’ll need to contact HR. If you’re already off of payroll you may not qualify for that other position.
