Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Take the money and run!

Be happy, there is life after AT&T. Take your severance and 100% lump and run before they figure out how to screw you out of your pension.

“not waiting for a severance offer.”

Must be nice to not need that severance money. For craft on my region with 30 years that’s $120k + unemployment + 6 months paid healthcare.

(Submitted the paperwork to take lump sum, moving it and my 401k to an IRA under my financial advisers company. I should be done with everything in 2 months, retiring, not waiting for a severance offer.)

Right behind you brother. Not answering any calls after 5:00 PM anymore.

“the funded percentage keeps dropping.“

Isn’t it around 98% funded? That’s amazing compared to many pensions.

Despite ending new pension enrollments 5 years ago, the funded percentage keeps dropping. It's a sad situation if anyone believes the company will pay them what they are due in retirement.

Randall’s got a plan for the pension fund alright!!They don’t give out pensions anymore!! That stopped 5 years ago!! AND there laying off managers before there pension eligible or it’s greatly reduced!!! So yea Randall ain’t no dummy!! Won’t be long ....it’ll be a mostly contract work force and ...guess what they don’t need with a contract work force??? Managers!! So yes Randall has the pension thing ALL figured out!!

Most financial analysts will tell you to take the lump sump and roll it over into an IRA or the next company's 401K. Cut all financial ties with the former company. You never know how they'll manage their pension.

Take the money. It's not going to get better - Randall has a plan for the pension funds

Debt, enter bankruptcy to reorganize raid the fund, get a bigger bonus

Taking first offer out - T will only get worse. Randall and John's do not care.

MVO - Surplus - pay me now . Randall will take the pension, millennial shave no idea what it is and are not impacted. Leadership is only aligned with greed.

And tell everyone you know to run from this company. Let the word out how this company treats its American workforce. Let AT&T's customers know how this corporation's leadership promised to create thousands of jobs with their tax cut windfall, and instead lays off thousands of American workers every quarter.

Let the American consumer know that AT&T does not support this country or its workers and rips off its customers every chance it can.

That is my plan. These day I don't trust AT&T to be solvent in ten years. Missteps and mistakes by our "Leadership" scare the fukk out out me. The "Leadership" will be OK though, but for the rest of us, they can only lay off so many before they start eyeballing our pensions and other benefits. The precious dividend will be last to be reduced.
