We all know there was a lot of talk about DTV being one of the parts of the company that could go through a very large restructure and even that the fate of DTV is not certain under the T umbrella. Time goes by and nobody is mentioning anything, so I have to ask if there is any word on DTV layoffs?

As they move to delivering more by streaming, and less by air, there will be some surplus over time. There will be a day when the satellites become space junk. There will be broadcast operations for some time to come.
T isn’t going to sell directv. It’s still a nice cash flow cow for them, even with subscriber losses.
I think surplus is the least of your worries. Need to start thinking who your new employer will be when T sells off DTV.
I know that over the last 3 years they have been laying off DTV employees in various areas. In Denver and LA everyone is bracing themselves for the next round of layoffs.
If you’re a DTV employee then welcome to T World. We are the last remaining remnants of the confused, less enthused, waiting to be Surplussed Survivors of the late, great Planet T.....our worries continue, yours have only just begun!
As you know , it’s all rumor and innuendo. We don’t ever really know about layoffs ahead of time. They just laid off a bunch of wire techs so I’m thinking directv techs are safe for awhile again. Unfortunately it’ll probably be directv customer service call centers that are hit again next. They still have a lot of satellite customers so I honestly don’t expect any mass lay-off. More like death by a thousand cuts over a long time.
