serious question about 5G and its future

What happens if 5G doesn't end up bringing in the type of revenue VZ is expecting? For that to happen, people would have to leave their existing providers in record numbers. Existing providers already offer great speeds at a decent price.

Also, with all insane cuts going on over there, do you have the man power to support existing products and provide decent customer support?

Could this entire thing completely and utterly backfire and fail? If that happens, where does that leave the company?

Tell the rest of the story @3jzi, as you’re cherrypicking so far to suit your agenda:

...and when MaBell “dumped it”, as you say, they wanted to do anything but. However, needing to by court mandate, the Baby Bells did better than Ma did, because the controlled the local interests right up to and into the home itself. The work was done by the same men and women as before, who were members to the union, as before, and these organized baby bell men and women bdid better than their counterparts who opted to stay at home with Ma.

So history’s repeating itself, in your opinion. So what? The union represented people will remain in their union represented areas, doing their union represented, protected work.

So, you see, 3jzi, the more things change, the more they stay the same, for some, with the exception that the build, when and if it’s done in union areas, will be lucrative for the men and women that build it, even if there’s some contractors in the mix, messing things up and doing substandard work.

It’s all good until we cruise into retirement, no matter how much you want and wish that reality not to be. It just is what it is amigo.

5 g will become the greatest failure in Verizon's history.

They think they are the only ones in this game...

Sometimes the expected cost savings never materialize.

5G (and the forces driving it) is more about cost savings than increased revenue.

They can do what they should’ve done in the first place and finish putting out fios in the areas that don’t yet have it.

There will always be a customer base who pays high price for cutting edge service. But you are expecting only Verizon to have 5G, which I don't think is the case. If 5G doesn't pan out, Verizon will still be the #1 company as it is now. The problem then will be slow growth
