Sorry to say, I wouldn't recommend AT&T as a good place to work. It is far too unstable. For the last 10 or 12 years, there has at least been one layoff per year. Now the layoffs are happening every quarter. It is not the place to be if you have a family to support.

"One of the first champions of 401ks, Herbert Whitehouse, told the Wall Street Journal that the retirement savings plans were supposed to supplement company pensions. Instead, companies replaced defined-benefit pensions with less costly, market-driven 401k plans, something he and others didn’t anticipate"

Never was the 401k supposed to replace the pension...period

Yes I would recommend family and friends to work for AT&T. It has been a great company to work for. Of course things have changed over the years but I can only say positive things about having a good job and benefits.

No. Not if they have other options. If they need an income now, I would say accept the job offer but don't expect it to last. Have a plan b.

"A401k was never designed to replace a pension." Actually, that is precisely what they were designed for. Pensions are no longer a "thing". Good for you if you have one (I am fortunate to have one as well), but they are all but dead. Any if you start investing in your 401K early on and take advantage of the company match, and avoid dumb things like withdrawing from it early...you'll be doing just fine.

The Company discriminated against Trump

Supporters. I was not allowed to where my MAGA hat at my yard on my routes, went to the Union Boss and they were no help either.

Nope. Management treats craft like children. No one feels respected or valued. The pay and the benefits are good but you’re constantly stressed about numbers instead of focusing on good customer service. If you try to do what’s right and work honestly, your numbers will suffer; which means your boss’s boss won’t get his bonus which means you’ll get b formed for under performance. So... must end up cheating. The company talks about ethics and cobc but it really encourages cheating from the top down. They really only care about their bonuses.

I would NEVER recommend anyone to work here. It's a sh__hole! No one is promoted in the company unless someone very high up helps them. The front line managers for the most part make it very clear that changes of you ever getting out of where your at is impossible. They don't encourage growth. As far as T University to help you with career growth, please don't me me laugh. I'm really surprised it hasn't been on the list of the top 10 worst companies in America to work for.

Absolutely!

Craft or Management! They just have to understand they may get cut like any other job. In the meantime enjoy the 401k, healthcare, and tuition reimbursement.

Sure, why not? They pay money don't they? It's odd everyone posts on here about all the worthless managers they see sitting around ruining the company. Well, everyone isn't a top performer. They have to work somewhere don't they? People on here act like there are no worse jobs in the country. Thank again.

Employee: ABSOLUTELY!

ENPS: Really? Why would you recommend your family and friends come to work for AT&T?

Employee: Because they need to experience it for themselves. Until then, they will continue to be brainwashed by deceit, promises, persuasion, and other methods of social engineering.

Got an email a couple days ago from our leadership “ reminding “ us all of the “ great” enhancements the co made this year to improve the systems due to our “ great feedback during last years ENPS”. Funny cuz we’ve got those coming out again in the next couple weeks- I guess reminding us that we only have to click thru 35 pages instead of 57 in opus for an Upgrade- they’ll think we’ll give great scores. Hate to tell them..or not... but nobody cares about stupid opus when people are getting treated like c-ap and laid off constantly. So be honest on those dumb surveys- not that they care about how we feel but if you have a lazy boss or something- there’s your chance to dish it back..again..nothing is ever done about it..but it feels good after to speak your mind.

NO! - They are a cold uncaring company that think they can do wrong that also uses surplus as a management tool and everything they touch turns to gold.

Not even sure they are above board any more. I tell people to run the other way including when getting service from the T. Was at costco today and got hit up three times by the two different people asking me who i have for cable tv. I told them twice I do not want to buy att services.

I'll tell you what someone with an advanced degree told me right after she was hired right out of college, and thrust into a 1st line position in which she had absolutely no knowledge of the network. She said " I was told that AT&T would look good on my resume". Did not know tip from ring, did not know a T1 from a OC192, Ethernet, don't even try, did not know copper from fiber. God bless her. If she is still employed here she might think the Lucent 5ESS switch means super extra fast 5G wireless.

I don't say this to demean management, there are many still around that can be counted on for their knowledge. What I fear is the company is culling folks with decades of knowledge for someone that can "manage". They will be managing decline.

Heck NO. I made the mistake of following my career Southern Bell Grandparents into the business - still remember Grand Dad saying - "get a job with the Phone Company and you are set for life".

Now, 27 years invested with four different Telco iterations - laid off 5 times, promoted four times, demoted twice after RIFs, now working for a version that can't decide what it wants to be and all I am asking for is another 19 months so I can retire from this madness.

Both of my kids refused to even consider this line of work - God Bless them.

I wouldn't recommend family or friends to work at any company with no revenue growth. Relying on acquisitions for growth is a major red flag.
