Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

DTVNow could be a leader, but of course it won't happen

DTVNow could be a leader, but of course it won't happen. Budgets are minimal, projects are cancelled, and support/dev teams are being furloughed 25% of the month. The platform is hardly moving, and as a result is falling further & further behind everyone else. The suites in Dallas think "The masses are asses" and the public will flock to whatever c-ap they put out. They attempt to hide the failure by basically giving the service away for free, hoping customers will forget to cancel after the trial period. Nobody is buying the c-apy service at full price, so now they're offering a free Apple TV (again) , thinking this will keep subs inflated and shareholders complacent.

this is exactly right. no budgets, constant dtv staff layoffs. its a joke. we have no outages for years, they have double digits weekly.

can you say unsustainable - I knew you could. don't worry we got the cellular company to prop anything we throw against the wall up.

The problem with DTV Now is that it buffers all the time depending on where you live or your network or who knows why. I've tried it and was told by family in no uncertain terms that they do not want to watch something that spins a buffering logo at least once during every show or a DVR service that constantly spits out a "oops, that was embarrassing, please try again later or watch something else". Or a DVR that when it does work, expires things at the end of 30 days whether you have space or not.

As for the "free apple tv"...

When free giveaways, ended people deserted and for a while the company stance was "no more free giveaways". Apparently that didn't last long. Guess they'll make up for customer losses with free giveaways again after raising the price and dropping channels?

Bingo! That’s the plan. Get customers in Q2

to pay $50 for 4 months for something that

costs about $200 on Amazon or Best Buy.

Then they churn in Q3. It’s all about milking

this as long as possible. Eventually we’ll

be offering 12 month promos...wait

isn’t that like DTV sat? Yeah but if we

do the $200 Visa gift card and the Apple 4K

That might get ‘em. Sad
