Wow, bias and ignorance
Anyone offended by this thread should simply stay off the web. If something this insignificant is offensive then please, never leave your parents basement. Life is hard and at times offensive and defensive; if you can't handle this thread then there is no hope left.
Children of the greatest generation beg for the removal of offensive words; how fall the boomers have fallen.
This post should be removed, every time I see it, it is offensive, and speaks to the bias against older workers at VZ.

Wait until the first big outage, and they run around with theirs heads you know where, and panic that the old folks are not there to bail them out. They have no real world experience in telephony, they never say "we" only " I" did this and that, never a part of a team, but they all think they should be promoted or rewarded, if not they just leave, but it is never there fault. I never would believe VZ would come to this.
But if VZ laid off all of the 'old people' then who would know how to run the company, or what it is that we even do? I am amazed at all of these millennials running around talking important in their hipster duds who have no idea how the phone works or what makes wireless different than wireline. Really. But go ahead OP and play "Office". It really is fun to watch you play pretend grown-up, and just in time for bring your child to work day!
I am an old person and I will gladly go for $5000 per year of service with no cap on the years. Other than that I will wait until I want to retire.
As an 'old person' I didn't get triggered. I got offered a big chunk of cash and benefits that will last a long time, and it was a CHOICE. Left on 12/28 and haven't looked back for a second. Life outside Verizon is so so good!
