Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why stay or return to WF

I was packaged out about 4 months ago in one of the many layoffs. Now I’m being courted by WF to return as a local leader. What would it take to return to WF?

I know management keeps saying things are improving, but I’m not sure sure they know what’s really going on. How long do you think before things are back to normal at WF?

You were “packaged out four months ago”?

So you know what it’s like here. I’m so confused here? “They say it’s getting better” it’s been four months?

You can’t remember what it was like working here four months back? It’s not a typo right? Not four years? Four months?

It’s the same as it was first quarter 2019. Tim just left. That’s all. Nothing has changed.

If you have a well paying job at another company right now WHY would you want to return to Wells Fargo after you were laid off there? That could just happen again soon after you take a new job there. Every 6 weeks, or so, more of the people in my department inform us who remain, so far, that they have been displaced. Entire departments, though not really large departments, are being displaced including the Manager. Now if you are not currently employed then surely another job at Wells Fargo is better than being unemployed. Personally I do like working at Wells Fargo and have never encountered any unethical behavior there. But it is questionable what the future there will hold

for me. So far, still needed.

As elsewhere mentioned go if you need the money/ time to find a better path. Limit your personal exposure and never ever work with HR. Have an escape plan and don’t be passive.

I’d only go back if they made me CEO. Then I could clean house and fire all the crooks and fix ur culture. Outside of that, there’s no reason for anyone to return to Alcatraz once they’ve escaped!

Of course they’re going to say things are improving. What can they say - things are getting worse? One thing you might want to ask them is if you will be expected to come in and start cutting people. I’ve seen it happen where they brought people in to wield the axe - and then axed that person when the deed was done. Make sure they’re not just using you to do the dirty work.

Go back if you need the money but always be on your guard. Also, if you do accept opt out of the mandatory arbitration if you need to sue. Also, never call the ethics hotline or go to HR but go the the media or FBI with evidence.

Good luck.

Job market is NOT "crazy hot" in all regions. Such B.S.

8 years minimum. Proven avg after major scandal (and WF has had many, one after another).

Where do you live? The job market is crazy hot and you can easily find a comparable job if you’re competent. Why would you consider going back to a company who’s search for a CEO? Everything will change and jobs will be eliminated yet again. Don’t do it.
