Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Feedback is useless

Even if the surveys are anonymous, truthful, articulate feedback is useless. The ego of management in charge is way too big to accept the feedback of the underlings. They believe that from their position, they are way smarter than employee reports. In my group, high volume, unanimous, actionable feedback against a useless, inaccurate tool was disregarded for years because it was a major pet project of leadership.

And this right here is why AT&T will continue to fail, no matter how many reorganizations and restructurings are instituted. They will never make the changes that need to be made. OP is @YuieI92-1dwf.

Also the surveys identify categories of responses by years of service as my Management is very open with us and showed us. There were two employees in our group with 30 or more yrs of svc and it identified how folks in this category responded to questions so pretty easy and obvious to figure it out......

4mfu... I’m sure you do your job well enough and must be very good at it... if not you’d have been run off years ago.... ... I too did my job well.... but unlike you I don’t complain... ... we both are alike ... very prideful... but AT&T is just a big corporation that is only in it for profit... ... with your vast experience you already know that.... for all your bellyaching you should quit... you wouldn’t be so bitter... happiness is there for you... you’d be happier and ALL that had to deal with you would be happy you were gone... ... I’ll be a prick... but you loo sir are a sphincter... nothing but poo comes out your pie hole... toil away at that job you don’t want to leave but will complain to high heaven how AT&T is so horrible... be thankful you are employed by a Company that provides for you... if you would like a more direct advice... ... STFU... loo sir

reply:3kdo, Just so you know I do my job and very well thank you. For pricks like you reading and comprehension apparently are two mutually exclusive traits, the comprehension part you seem to be lacking in. The learning curve for my "tedious thankless job" that I currently have is 8 to 10 years to be proficient and I'm paid quite well, thank you. I never said that I wanted to leave or quit, that was not the discussion we were having (3kdo-refer back to comprehension) but what I would like would be for the powers that be to take notice of the folks that actually do the work here at good old ma bell and maybe ask for suggestions before going down the rabbit hole with some of these strange paths that they seem to be in favor of. And YOUR opinion is just as worthless as mine is. Another keyboard k--ler ain't ya! Have you already had your last day on payroll or is it up coming? Got to be some reason why you are such a prick...........................

p.s. I've turned down 3 offers to be in management over the years, could not see any good reason to. But keep on wishing that you get in management, you are the type of person that they seem to love

3eju... it’ll be a much better place when you realize all your complaints matter only to you.... nobody wants to hear your negative opinion... if it was your company to guide.. you’d be out of business in less than a month... loo sir....

3kdo just made my point, now go take a good look at yourself in the mirror, turn your attitude around towards others so you can be a real leader, and until then your leaderships only helping to create the toxic mess that is now known as at&t and the most debted company in the world

To 3ciy... what you is CALLED a job... you were hired to do that job... ... it’s more than likely a tedious thankless job but you are being compensated monetarily for your time and effort... ... you chose to work at the phone company... ...you weren’t hired to create policy or invoke Company direction... ... if it is so horrendous to work at AT&T... LEAVE... you are making good money... STFU already... your opinion is worthless... because if it was worth anything you’d be fast tracked to the upper levels of Management... count your blessings...

well said 3ciy and 3mcl

This company will go no where until leadership takes a look at themselves in the mirror and starts holding themselves accountable and changes their attitude towards the ones underneath them putting up with their cr@p

"Wow.... I am a leader and I do read EACH and EVERY comment"

"If you want real change though.... Start with your attitude because all you really can control in life is how YOU respond to it."

Another kiss a-- "leader!" Continue to explain to us workers how your only purpose is to help us and that our attitude towards the company is our fault. What a Richard Cranium you are. Our attitude is a result of how we have been treated by our "betters" here at the phone company. Some of us have a really hard controlling our attitude and keeping it positive when we are lied to and about on a daily basis. Some of you go on and on and on about this or that project. Name us one, just one project (in the field) that was proposed, worked and COMPLETED. There are nearly none over the past 20 years. Yeah, my attitude is my fault,

Richard, you and "leaders" like you are the problem

Dear Leader:

We have been responding to these stupid surveys for a long time. We point out the same problems year after year and, as always, you keep ignoring us. When, and only when, we actually see some feedback and, more importantly, changes to the problems we keep pointing out, you'll have our respect.

As long as you're ignoring the problems we keep trying to tell you about, we ( nor our attitudes ) aren't the problem.

YOU ARE.

They can generally tell who said what. Some folks have pet phrases, some can't spell. Others are articulate, and many times the employee has said the same thing they put in the survey to the boss. That said, I didn't care if they knew it was me. I was honest, terse, polite and factual.

If it was good..accolades for them. If it was bad, they heard about it.

Never faced retribution.

Wow.... I am a leader and I do read EACH and EVERY comment. How my team feels is important and we have made changes based off of the feedback. I am Sorry to hear your teams and leadership have not. I hope that you find a team and a leader who appreciates you, challenges you, and helps you grow personally and professionally.

If you want real change though.... Start with your attitude because all you really can control in life is how YOU respond to it.

they could care less what is said on the surveys they just want participation. it is like telling george w bush there is something wrong with the economy in 2007 when he just doesn't even acknowledge there is a problem. management is in love with themselves and think they are harvard geniuses so do you really think they will listen to some peon. they just want participation so they can brag about their numbers to the board or in c---tail hour.

Comments are made available all the way down to first line. And yes there is no identification on the comments and yes some are quite easy to discern based on writing style. If you have recently had a meeting about attendance issues and attendance policy comes up on the survey you have a pretty good idea who submitted. If you interact with your people a lot it is not that difficult. Hell, I have even had employees tell me what they put down right after submitting. Will say there are some comments that I have no idea who submitted. Can only guess they might have come from the ones that basically never say much period regardless of the forum.

They could care less what you think. They are just meeting a metric.

In the eyes of AT&T, WHAT is said isn't nearly as important as participation numbers. The ideas of the workforce are irrelevant to the ears of those who make the decisions. ( Which is why the company is so f****d up )

Their primary focus is participation. A few steps up the ladder, participation percentages for any given organization matter. It's a bonus impacting item. This is why they hound people mercilessly about participating even though we all know what we say is never given any attention.

However !

Be aware that these aren't quite as anonymous as you've been led to believe. The comments ARE made available all the way down to the 2nd lines, with only the owners names removed.

Everyone has a distinct writing style and it is trivial to match up a well written comment with its owner pretty easily so keep this in mind when submitting feedback if anything written reflects negatively upon your chain of command.

ENPS scores have been tied to team awards in the past which means people don’t want to use it as a method to be honest. If the company truly wants real feedback it can’t be tied to getting great scores it should be tied to how many improvements were made based on actual issues

It’s called being a realist @don, not defeatist. If AT&T truly and honestly cared about the opinions of its employees you would see change, real change. Not the latest hot button word of the year change like “empowerment” or “collaborate” or a list of so many others repeated ad nauseam in emails that deliver zero lasting results. You really want to grow the company and make the customers happy? Then make it a priority to make your employees happy. 99/100 times a happy employee is a productive one.

Know for a fact a AM that was called on the carpet for his survey numbers. Don’t believe it was just the survey results though. The other numbers s---ed and the survey reinforced the issues. Was told he needed to find another job. Had some connections and landed on staff with a lower paying title.
