Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Use the eNPS survey

I don't know about all of the company, but folks in ATO Mobility should be aware that the eNPS survey is coming out soon. The word I received was that it is to be completed between 4/16 and 4/30. I know there are many conspiracy theorists and tin foil hat types here that think the surveys are not really anonymous, and that they will be used to target you, etc. Those folks aside, I would urge you reasonably thoughtful and articulate folks to take the opportunity to take the survey and provide some honest and scathing (yet professional) feedback on the current state of the company culture, morale, etc. Let them know what it feels like. Answer the "would you recommend AT&T as a great place to work to your family and friends" candidly and honestly. These surveys are indeed reviewed at the highest levels. LET THEM HEAR YOU.

If you think these surveys are anonymous you are a fool. It will go right down to your AM and you will be called into a meeting with your director. Ask me how I know. The company won't stand for criticism.

Every year my enps comments get better and better,,,, about how I love my job, what a great place it is, and how fantastic my group is. All 10’s. Maybe that’s why I’m still around after 30+ yrs. Complaining does no good. I fear I may inevitably get hit but in the meantime, I’ll do or say whatever makes them happy. I need my job, bills to pay, kids college, etc

and did they do anything about how the complaints regarding out sourcing, foreign workers, etc ..... ???? - they don't give a rip.

now when it is time for budget cuts within your group, you may not want to be the person dropped in the lower tier at review time because of your comments.

Sorry for the typos. I disagree. I laid it on thick as peanut butter last year. Heard nothing of anything I mentioned in the survey covered throughout the year. I covered position responsibility changes, outsourcing call center jobs and how we always field complaints from the customer at how difficult it is to work with uneducated people over seas and how our customer hate it. I covered the subcontractor situation with dtv and how their “quality” work is 85% of the time garbage. Mentioned how difficult it is for us as techs to get the people on tier2 to understand the field conditions we deal with on a daily basis. I could go on and on...fact is with these aforementioned items and all these missed appointments left and right for the passed few months we’ve lost a lot of customers trust. People are fed up with the bs this company continues to shovel to their customers and “valued” employees. It’s a dumpster fire at this point and the dumpster is loooooaaaaaded baby! Hahahahahaha

There has to be something in place to ensure employees are not taking multiple surveys or on behalf of other employees so it makes sense to log in beforehand, however I doubt that it’s truly anonymous.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that these surveys are only semi-anonymous. At a prior employer who used the same survey company that AT&T uses we had an employee who made claims with COBC implications. The initial report was anonymous but once a Sr. VP noticed the implications they were able to obtain the specific survey that provided the comments which was tied to to a survey ID that was unique to the employee that made the claims. The employee was then called into HR and after an investigation by HR she was fired along with the director that she implicated.

Survey is needed so T can state they poll employees for feedback. And leadership doesn't ignore the surveys.., they don't even think about them. Their directives are to lean out the company, reduce expenses, grow revenue, and get that debt down. The number of employees has never been a priority of T or any major corporation.

For all questions on the survey, I will direct upper management to research this website.

Since I have my tin foil hat on my head, I get the feeling OP is someone in upper management encouraging negative feedback in order to make it easier to find the ones that do not wish to work here anymore.

The Survey is not totally anonymous. The comments can be and will be tracked back to your unit. They might not have your name on them, but they know exactly what unit they come from. My supervisor goes over all the comments with the team and I can usually pick out 90% of who said what in their surveys. Since these are used as a part of bonus / goals, management will drill down to the unit responsible and make sure they understand ENPS surveys.

Understand this if you tend to write in a specific style.

Yep, and write in that style, praising your chain of command, and commending them on how efficient and professional that they are. 😜

Instead of the survey helping AT&T, see to it that the survey helps you. That's what I did, and I was happy with the results.

*but do you really think they are sorting through surveys and targeting folks/ even whole groups based on ANY negative feedback? *

They'll look at a lot of things, like performance, attendance, attendance, attendance, as well as these surveys. I don't think the surveys would serve any purpose other than a tie breaker. But, that's good enough.

Attendance is for the most part, paying someone to stay home. AT&T hates attendance issues.

Personally, refusing to participate in the survey will have a far greater impact than filling it out only to have your comments ignored.

If enough people refuse to waste their time participating in the farce, they might actually start to ask why.

Additionally, the survey is NOT completely anonymous. While the names are removed, the comments are forwarded down the mgmt chain to at least the second lines. This is a fact.

Understand this if you tend to write in a specific style.

I’ve read all 16 (at the moment comments) regarding the OP suggestion to “honestly” participate in the employee survey. “It is anonymous”.... from my experience (22yrs L1)... it ain’t anonymous.... ... I agree with some of the AM’s statements but from the L3 and L4 pov any strong negative statement will be targeted for identification and eradication.... ...if done in group mass... the reporting manager will be looking for retribution.... ... I’ve always thought this regarding “honest opinion” .... remember the story of the Emperor and his new clothes? ... exactly!!! ...it’s not paranoid... it’s real... uuid to take a anonymous survey? ... it ain’t anonymous... ... don’t respond yet you get emails to remind you the survey needs to complete before end date... ... and in my old group... you have the Director that wants the surveys completed 5 Days before said end date AND my L2 that wants it done 2 DAYS after the first receipt of said survey... come on... who’s fooling who?!? and in one on one with L2’s over the years... ... they openly seek to find the said sour apple.... which in turn the sour apple falls to the bottom of the barrel in the Rate and Rank game regarding who to keep and who to dump.... ... it ain’t anonymous.... PEACE ✌️ Everyone...

This would be the same type of b---s--- survey's conducted for years, where the company cherry pick's the results in order to claim some "win". And yes I know before some a--hole tells me, that "they all do it". It's all c-ap, if you sell the best product, provide the best service, have quality people, you do not have to have survey's so that you can tinker with the results and claim "well lookie here!" Quality will win out, this AT&T b---s--- will not

Even if the surveys are anonymous, truthful, articulate feedback is useless. The ego of management in charge is way too big to accept the feedback of the underlings. They believe that from their position, they are way smarter than employee reports. In my group, high volume, unanimous, actionable feedback against a useless, inaccurate tool was disregarded for years because it was a major pet project of leadership.

@nar

I shared my experience as an AM, I was not being "naïve" in sharing that, nor was I being untruthful, that was simply my experience. Of course, you don't have to believe me, that's fine. There very well could have been and may be shenanigans going on with these things. I just didn't see it in my group. I am going to be brutally honest in mine this year, let the chips fall where they may.

Wow, the paranoia is a lot worse than I thought. I know things are pretty bad right now, but do you really think they are sorting through surveys and targeting folks/ even whole groups based on ANY negative feedback? C'mon people. You can provide honest negative feedback on this thing in a professional manner and you're not going to get booted out the door for it. I was an AM with directs when these first started years ago. Unless things have changed, @1twe is correct in his synopsis above. As the AM I would of course have my groups results, indeed I am obligated to review it with them. I don't have UID's to go with the survey. Also to his point, if you know your team...you know who is articulate, who isn't...who is extremely angry all the time etc. So for the most part, not hard to figure out who went with what survey. But once you're past the Director level on up, they don't have that insight. And never did I ever, or ever hear of anyone else ever tying a UID to a particularly nasty or even unprofessional eNPS for the purpose of "targeting"... for bad review, future surplus or anything like that. I know most here won't believe that based on what I am seeing, but that was my experience.

I think they know how jacked up it is working here now, I don’t see why they need a survey to be told unless they will use it against the groups that had negative comments to find victims for the next surplus

"provide some honest and scathing "

I recommend the opposite. I recommend saying everything is going along just fine. The individual surveys are anonymous, but they're going to know what group this is coming from. The group that sounds like a bunch of whiners and complainers could be a group that AT&T gets rid of sooner, rather than later.

Director gives the scores and comments of 1st level manager to area manager. While they don't get your UUID, they look at writing style to figure out any negativity. So change up you spelling; throw in some new terms...best played with the rest of your team for added confusion.

A conspiracy theorist might think that aliens live at the San Antonio mall. Someone with common sense might debate whether an internal survey that asks for your credentials is actually anonymous

Easy answer if you know 1 or 2 things about technology... you have to enter your attuid first before anything 😂 😂 😂

If it is completely anonymous, why them ask for employees id ?? Much more being a Intranet survey and not an external survey posted on the Internet.

I have a very honest question for you. How can you assure that the survey is full anonymous when you have to put your company credentials before taking it? Maybe a silly question from my part. 🙃
