Demoting To Sales Rep?

Thoughts? Recent changes in overtime policies, fewer incentives, and the stress involved with being in management makes me wonder if a sales rep position would be more ideal. Has anyone else made this move?

@ibeo- hate to tell you MR POLICY POLICE- MR COBC “ I keep my policy book in my back pocket”- but I do report my hours - don’t speak about something you know nothing about if you’re not in my same situation. I know the POLICY- unfortunately- some leaders just don’t care and some of us get bullied around. So before you spout more POLICY- GFY. Nobody wants to hear about policy on a lay-off board you POS

Tough rules about paying OT in California especially if you have no direct reports. We all got changed to order specialist title 1B and they have to pay you if they make you work it. They got sued over it several years back.

@Ytu7Wtc-1sov If you are eligible for OT, they can't make you be on conference calls without getting paid. If you are doing that and not reporting the hours, you are violating the policy.

Hey @hrm here, re: my question re: management OT ; sorry I didn't mean to hit a nerve. I'm 25 years in Mobility back East, I just never heard of management OT before. Glad you got it while you could at least.

I’m a level 1A Mgr, we get OT, like the OP stated, OT has been completely eliminated..except of course we still have to take conference calls on our days off without getting paid, have to cover shifts for the id--ts who call in sick constantly and then we get yelled at and blasted on reports for working OT. AHHH OK...who the F is gonna cover the stores when the reps call in? The RSM?ARSM? Don’t make me laugh. If an RSM works 10 hours a week in my area, that’s considered a lot, and they get away with it. Good for them I guess...But I think it’s a great idea to step down, have a life, no fires to put out, no conference calls. Don’t let the job make you miserable. Notice the sales reps all have it easy? We help them sell, they make $$, we get the stress and they go home and have a life. I know I sound like I’m complaining, I’m sure I’ll hear “ why don’t you just leave” or some other c-ap from some id--t, but I feel like we can vent on this site, and besides, I make good money so I’m sticking around for now.

Level 1 managers are eligible for overtime, as are many L2 managers in California.

What type of management position were you in where you were eligible for OT? Never heard of that in my world.

Know about a former 1st line manager (wireless store) that by his own will asked to be demoted and took a sales rep position. Too much stress and pressure from above to make decisions that he doesn’t agree with.

I know of 2 different managers who went from 1st level management to non management in past year. I know of a 2nd level who went to non management this year. I myself went from 2nd level to 1st level years ago and it was the best move ever- I finally had some work life balance. Be happy. It’s just a job.
