Don't know which 10q you read. My info goes back to pre-acquisition era... 2015/16.
But you have to admit that self-install customers in a favela on the outskirts of Rio de Janairo have a far lower cost of acquisition than your dispatch-a-tech-to-rewire-your-house-with-new-coax US customer.

In no shape form or capacity did DTV ever derive 65% of their revenue from DTVLA. DTVLA was at most about 15% of the revenue for DTV. DTVLA is where the subscriber growth was happening since the US market was and is effectively saturated.
However, the DTVLA business model did not look anything like the DTV business model. DTV locked in customers with long term contracts and received consistent monthly payments from those subscribers, the installs were almost always done by installers. DTVLA on the other hand was actually a conglomeration of multiple regional companies that was almost entirely month-to-month, no contract and self-installed. Many of the customers don't even really have permanent buildings they, they have temporary housing with temporary equipment installs that they take with them to their next place.
DTVLA was the growth market, DTV in the US was the mature saturated market. DTVLA was at no point the main revenue stream for the company.
Latin America will have 5G too. Probably on Huawei gear banned in the US.

Largest shareholder: Carlos Slim... Also the owner of 90% of Mexican Telco and owner of largest wireless provider in Latin America: America Movil.
The plant is dead gentlemen. OTA/5G/Sat-based TCP/IP will rule the day and become so cheap that the only way to make money is by owning the content companies.
T was late to the game... Comcast figured it out years ago when they bought NBC Universal. Since then, Comcast stopped giving two sh!ts about their network.
All the years I've been in Telco/IT, I have yet to see a strand of fiber in a prem with Comcast's name on it.

Years ago, BellSouth moved into Latin American markets. I remember all the hype from the execs. It was a failure.
Now if 65% of all DTV revenue comes from Latin America, how will T replace it given that there will be no new sat launches. Do they expect to roll out 5G there? I've not heard any talk about it.
Where will the cap-ex come from given the huge debt load? Others have mentioned cutbacks in US fiber deploys so just about the last thing to do is sell off all the corporate real estate holdings. It would generate a lot of revenue but it would reduce T's overall net worth.
And the jury will be out for a while on T managing non-telco creative talent based companies.
@YT...what you fail to understand is that AT&T will fail in the streaming segment. This will become saturated if not already. Also do you really think Stankey can actually compete against Netflix, Hulu, Disney, Amazon and Google?? That is a joke. I mean re runs of Friends will only last so long.Furthermore, the brand is tarnished, T is not a trustworthy company.
@1zkk, I had read an analysts opinion on T, several months ago, giving it a “Buy” rating and mentioning DTV was a money maker, despite the loss of subscribers, but without going into details regarding the how and why.....the South America connection just filled in that blank!

DTV gets +65% of all revenues from LATIN AMERICA. AT&T never cared to improve DTV as an existing product. They just wanted the US subscriber base as a negotiating tool when hashing future contracts with CONTENT OWNERS. Oh, and it's a cash cow.
Fast forward to 2018... Now AT&T is a CONTENT OWNER, by owning Time Warner.
They're making money on both ends... Smart. They learned from COMCAST.
And just like COMCAST, they've decided to abandon the old network. Unlike Comcast, AT&T has a presence in mobile and 5G.
Stay tuned... I predict you'll see Comcast buy a mobile operator, especially if TMobile/Sprint deal gets nuked by regulators.
AT&T's big mistake was attempting to get the Wire Techs to do the DTV installs. It was a foolish waste of money and training and a disaster trying to integrate WorkFlow with DTV's system. But they got smart and killed it eventually.
Just collect $200, pass go, and leave that dying technology to the MasTec subs.. Their day of reckoning is coming real soon too. It's not just WT's and CORE being put out to pasture.
Anyway, follow the money Kids... Money flows don't lie. None of this is personal or greed. It's technology. Accept it already.
And stop the blame game. Re-up your skill set and accept that the good ol' Union inflated pay days are OVER.

Prices are rising with cuts to the product offered. Of course customers are leaving. They can keep running all their silly ads but customers aren’t buying it.
With DTV bleeding out and their running off DTVN subs with the crazy price bait and switch, this would not be surprising at all.
These guys have no idea what they're doing and it's just a matter of time before they wreck the Warner side just like they've wrecked everything else.
