OFFER FOR CRAFT

Above a SIPP offer....heard they don't want to surplus anymore craft people. This was from a union steward, so I don't think its BS. He's a pretty straight shooter.

My brother's wife's cousin's stepson is a union steward at IBEW21. He said there's a 25 and 25 offer coming soon! So it's gotta be true.

I talked to a tech whose brother is married to the sister of another tech who heard that they are going to offer a 5 and 5 in June.

In our area a lot of the DEG techs are loaned to the fiber buildout. Fix it when it breaks. Might as well get used to the fact that the company is not going to spend money on preventive maintenance for the older technologies. The copper fed huts are as devoid of customers as the cables feeding them.

I talked to a tech who’s brother is a manager...looks likes it’s going to be a 1 and 1! It will be offered in June. Several people are rumbling the same rumor from different sources, so it’s picking up steam.

@IYUZ....SLC crew ain't got time to run span lines or alarms, they're too busy putting on c-bits stickers, heck they don't even have time to smear grease on the battery terminals anymore!

All of our CWA stewards resigned from the union. Makes you wonder why we pay dues.

More Local21 is saving the industry messages? A steward? The stewards are dead weight, like a boat anchor. Taking union business time everyday, while the rest of us tend to the real work.

Wire techs are gone, the new installs are left to the ssim crew. Someone has to maintain ds1’s, ethernet and business voip.

It’s NOT that they don’t want to surplus anymore...there just surplusing the wrong ones and they know it. Getting rid of the young guys isnt the answer.....the older guys will go with a good offer. Most are planning there exit for2020. They layoff the young guys again and lose a bunch older techs next year....they may be short handed! Our DEG crew is running bare bones NOW and regardless what you think there is ALOT of equipment STILL to maintain. Routines in some instances haven’t been done in 3 or 4 years. Customer prems have caught on fire due to lack of maintenance on the batteries! With the 5G build right now it’s a ZOO....DEG; FIBER and Line!! There are 1000’s of sites of equipment.... yes someday it’ll be gone, but this equipment isn’t just going to disappear over nite!!

They are aiming for 12-15% of construction to be surplused in the third quarter. The amount of people that have put in for SIPP is very minimal.

VSP is offer every year at this time of the year. You have to match up someone who is surplused and willing to take your job. Eevn with VSB, the company still surplus craft.

I was a steward for years. We are told little. The local executive board little more. And most of what were told was not true.

Yeah right. Stewards aren’t the best source for info.... CWA is just as bad as T with their propaganda (mailers/emails) telling us how great of a job their doing for us. 🙄 D4 still no contract. And the Einsteins over at d9 will be no different when bargaining starts there. Maybe they’ll get a contract within a year!!?! Ooooo

I sure hope that’s correct info! I left with a VSP (SIPP) last year so it won’t help me but, there are a lot of great younger techs at T that need to be kept on the payroll. It may not happen but it’s a great idea.
