@ippw is right- There is so much shadiness with DTV NOW sales, first of all- the new packages are horrible with so many channels gone ( of course, they’re available if customers buy online, leaving those of us with goals to hit stuck with the expensive c-appy new plans). But the fraud is back, especially in The East Region, most customers don’t know they have it cuz reps are selling accessories or prepay and crediting that but charging the credit card for the NOW. Customers trust the sellers so they’re clueless, but hey- as long as those close rates are good everyone looks the other way. Funny too- I’d kill to see every ARSM or DOS try to sell either DTV product, yet they preach about it all day long. C-appy product, just like good old digital life...

Let's give away Apple TV to any new account with no contract

How much was lost in that fiasco

It did pump the numbers - so views as a success, it doesn't matter how many cancelled, it's how many signed up. It's a shell game at this point, T has a base of customers and it'sh-- the wall. You can make a good profit off of the base, but bonuses are based on growth, not sound judgement

Nothing is going to happen. AT&T will send their phalanx of lawyers to beat down and outfox this rabble. There are two types of people in this world, those with the guns and those with the shovel. Guess which group we fall under.

Isn't making false statements a code of conduct violation?

What happened to "just do the right thing"? Just saying...

Hopefully this will be the year they offer us a 2+2!

@1etf in the grand scheme you're probably right. But internally there will be reprecussions.

@1csa, it will hardly be a blip on the news radar. Might make the weekend news, the occasional slow news night but when said and done.....just target an extra lay-off cycle and Wha-La.....suit settled, more employees gone and the stock unaffected.

As an afterthought, watch to see if higher layoffs hit DirectTV, selling it would be a better move.

Randy’s lawyers will handle everything just fine. Meanwhile where were we? Oh yeah, we need to cut costs and cut more employees to grow the business.

something crooked about the whole direct tv purchase IMO. everything changed when that happened and there seemed to be a lot darker atmosphere at the T.

Had it been a single law firm, I would of used the term ambulance chaser. But, with nearly half a dozen firms filing similar suits...the dirt might just be real.

"AT&T told investors that DirecTV Now was succeeding even as its subscriber base fell due to price increases and the discontinuance of promotional discounts, said the complaint filed Monday in US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The complaint accuses AT&T and executives including CEO Randall Stephenson of violating the US Securities Act by "knowingly or recklessly" making false statements to investors and failing to disclose problems that were affecting DirecTV Now sales."
