When the Dust Settles, Do We Get Our Package?

Found a confirming online article that named the terms of the WarnerMedia buyout package (The Wrap) which confirms what we’ve heard here: For 55’s and over, minimum 10 years with company, capped at two years severance. Nothing was mentioned about the deadline, for accepting

this offer, would be....curious to know when that offer expires.

My curiosity calls for speculation, and not rumor, which exists on several levels. When the buyouts end, and the dust settles, there will still be redundancies....jobs that mirror every facet of T’s own day to day work load across all markets.

With no more takers from WarnerMedia/HBO, would attention turn back to T, and possibly a final buyout package, to coincide with the START of 2020? Do we have reason to believe that the quarterly Surplusses will continue through the end of 2020 instead of just beginning?

I could see where buyout pkgs could focus on all those remaining redundancies, that still exist.

It would be perfect timing for T to clear house, in a final push toward 2020, and yes for us to get what we have been campaigning for.

It would be a perfect time for T to announce a reduction in future Severance Pkgs, or even eliminate them altogether. This would be an added incentive to send us for the door.

Overall, with WarnerMedia/HBO packages settled, doing a reorganization of all departments would be easier done if T were the last remaining piece of the puzzle.

Thoughts, pro or con?

@1srv, have to agree with that. A very logical assumption, and that alone will disqualify you from advancing up the ranks....logic does not compute in that world!

I would bet this latest buyout offer, was part of the acquisition agreement, and may just be a one-time offer. AT&T has never been that generous with any offers to leave.

Your choice.

Either give sh-- or take it.

The day of buy outs is NOT over. When the company realizes the older workers, under a union contract, aren’t going to leave without a decent offer, they will loosen those purse strings.

Deadline to accept is 4/30.

I know people in Finance and Tech who've received the offer; I believe this is company-wide.

401k deductions will not continue, so no they will not come out of severance.

In addition to the 4 weeks per year, an extra 9 weeks is given.

To those on the T side of the house: No "buyout" for you. The days of the buyout for us is long gone. And please don't refer to the MVO last year as a "buyout". A buyout would be an enhanced severance package of some sort, a pension kicker, something along those lines. Asking for volunteers to leave and they giving them a standard severance is not a "buyout". And they are not even doing that anymore. Good for the older Turner folks being offered this generous severance. If I were them I would hit the bricks hastily. Those of you at T thinking a similar offer may eventually circle around to you are delusional.

That “Wrap” article also mentioned the package measured the severance, for those that qualify, as four weeks per year, capped at two years.

On a separate thread someone asked the question if the offer (@WM) was company wide, or localized to specific departments....no answer to that one yet, but if T ever went that route, would it be all or some?

The company cannot just get rid of people as it sees fit. Not if you are under a contract. Seniority rules, and always will under those circumstances, so if the company really wants to get rid of us old timers, give us the same offer, or we won't budge!

No only taxes come out of the severance check, no 401k. They mistakenly took some medical deductions out of mine and they are refunding it.

Why does everybody think there will be some kind of reward for not being needed anymore? They will just get rid of who they want to and thats it.
