Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There may be some predictability of surplussing, but it can be blind as well

There may be some predictability of surplussing, but it can be blind as well. In the past we've had to interview for our own jobs and were asked if we'd take a pay cut. Another time, our management outsourced 215 IT jobs and then unknown to the five Exec. Dirs. that were confidentially handling this, they two were blindsided and outsourced. First time I stayed with T and my ED didn't.

T is undergoing not just the $180 billion in debt issue, but the changing functionality of WarnerMedia. In any case, they want to show the world it will be a success and will even overstep to be sure it is. (just my opinion)

The OP ( @YgL9jPK-1gsa ) said it right

I read this like three times and still have no idea what the person is trying to say.

So you think we are still just a utility huh? Like the power company or water department. I don’t know of any power companies that make movies and tv shows, sell content to other providers, have worldwide peering sites, or backbones that help make the modern internet work. This is mostly done without poles, but I do like your romantic and nostalgic way of looking at things. Sadly, believing something doesn’t mean it’s true. Stop being so blinded just because you had a bad manager or two.

We work at a utility company, not IBM. If a manager can’t climb a pole get rid of ‘em. They are too busy trying to keep clean hands. So sorry to spell out the truth to lazy managers. Get a job at Walmart cleaning stalls.

Climbing poles is not difficult sorry, a lot of us did it. Some of us probably did it way more than you. It’s a learned skill. Plenty of folks have other skill sets that are just as useful. Stop with the manager -tech us versus them narrative, it’s older than you are and is just a misguided way of thinking. You don’t think contractors can climb poles? I assure you they can.

In the past, when? Not sure this is applicable to generalize over all positions in an entire company.
