Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Last exit day?

When is the last exit day for those who have accepted voluntary buyout? I'm assuming the rest of us are relatively safe from any additional layoffs until then, and after that all bets are off.

If I'm not mistaken, it's sometime in June, but I might be wrong.

You are not safe unfortunately. I was not a part of the volunteer program and yet my entire team was let go in February with an end date Mar. 22. The volunteer part just let them get rid of people the PC way, there will still be plenty of cuts to come. Sorry.

I understand wanting a solid wage and job security but you whiners will cry over anything.

Seriously, I've never seen anything like it, pissing and moaning about every part of his job.

Dudes, if y'all hate it that much...freaking leave. Nobody is keeping you where you are. You aren't cemented down. As bad as you want to be seen as one, you are not a victim to an evil corporation.

You big tough dudes should all be embarrassed. Your grandpa's would be laughing at you. Traded off masculinity for a soap box. You sound like a bunch of old women griping.

The other posters here are correct. I just saw on LinkedIn someone posting that they were laid off on 3/22. In their own words "my position was eliminated," and from the rest of the post, it was a surprise. There will be other RIF's this year. Probably some after 6/28.

you must be dreaming. Verizon is a sinking Titantic and run by rudderless executives with a plan. They will continue to do layoffs of their people as opposed to adjusting their grossly overpaid status as executives in this company. As long as you have that situation, you will always have layoffs and continued downward spiral of the company health. They do not care about their people they care more about lining their pockets with GREED.

Are you joking? There have been multiple rounds of layoffs since the beginning of the year. Pull your head out of your a$$. No one is safe. Ever.

You are not safe no matter what. There are layoffs occurring even now outside the VSP. Although until 6/28 these people get the benefit of the enhanced severance. After June it goes back to the standard 35 weeks max. There will always be layoffs.
