Went to that site and the discussion basically mimics a lot of what is being said here. Executives s---, worrying about the future, etc. Makes me wonder how much greener the grass is on that side of the fence.

"Why is there a thread on Verizon lay-offs on the AT&T lay-offs site?"
Because 1diots here are trying to compare the 2 vastly different companies.
Overall VZ is in better shape than the sinking ship that is T.
Why is there a thread on Verizon lay-offs on the AT&T lay-offs site?
"at least verizon is focused on being a telecom company and downplayed their media (yahoo & aol) assets. the media assets will likely be sold to a s---er buyer for pennies on the dollar soon.
whereas at&t is all over the place with no focus- dbs, ott streaming, media, wireless, wireline, fake 5g and they are doing none of it well. atta girl Randall !!!"
have to agree there. verizon knows who they are and have half the employees T does.
Noticed the same thing. And I see that they suspended a construction lineman for three weeks for using his bucket truck to rescue someones cat stuck on top of a pole.
That's the same kind of petty BS AT&T would do, all in the name of 'we care so much for our employees' safety"!
Working conditions at Verizon don't look much better than here.

Verizon still has landlines in those original northeast states. So it is a valid comparison..They have many of the same issues as Att but they have better upper mgmt...they wanna get rid of people? they entice people to leave with offers AND they have a stock price of $60 ..how you like them apples?
Plus they got rid of a huge portion of their employee base by selling those areas to Frontier. Not a true apples to apples comparison on some statistics. IE revenue per employee. They kept the wireless portion. Our revenue per employee would be a lot higher if we had cut half the landline services employees.
@pzv, I’m guilty of misinformation and apologize. I was thinking of the Pension freeze of June 2006 and said 401k....guilty as charged with my apologies.
Verizon froze management pension a few years ago, but they still have 401k.
"Verizon stopped contributing to their 401k employee accounts almost 14 years ago. The employees can still contribute but with no contribution from the company!" This is not accurate. Verizon contributes a 100% match on the first 6% of salary (T contributes 80% of first 6% of salary). This information readily available, provided by Verizon employees on Glassdoor, also on the Verizon careers site, and also what other former T employees have reported here. Please don't make things up or state things as fact that you don't have any idea about.
OP, they are exactly like us in every way, shape and form. I have watched them for several years and the anxiety that ensued when rumors of a major severance package was in the works was tense, and rumors everywhere. Many crossover trolls to be found as well but overall, they suffer through the same anxious moments as we do.
Also, one interesting caveat....you wondered if the grass was greener on the other side of the fence....Verizon stopped contributing to their 401k employee accounts almost 14 years ago. The employees can still contribute but with no contribution from the company!
