A neighbor on my neighborhood website had what she tells as a "bad" experience with Wells Fargo. The story went that she was wrongly charged by some company for an item that she could not afford, and it was a "mistake". Since she did not have the money to pay for the item, somehow purchased by "mistake", her Wells Fargo checking account was overdrawn. When she went to the Wells Fargo banking center to explain the charge was in error nothing was done to stop the several overdraft fees to her checking account. She complained in the neighborhood website that Wells Fargo should not have charged her overdraft fees when the purchase she made causing the lack of money was a "mistake". Then she has all the neighbors on the website feel sorry for her, as if her mistaken erroneous purchase and the checking overdraft fees, not "forgiven" by Wells Fargo was the fault of Wells Fargo. They all start recommending other banks or credit unions to do business with. Overall the impact was to NOT do business with Wells Fargo anymore. Losing more customers on a daily basis.

Well I read on the neighborhood website that after the lady called someone at Wells Fargo to complain they opened a case on the incident.
She posted tonight that Wells Fargo had refunded her all the money for the over draft fees. They had used tape recordings of her conversation with the initial banker that she contacted and escalated the situation to a different banker.
So NOW all the neighbors on that website think that Wells Fargo did come through with this customer and are saying nicer things about Wells Fargo in their messages.
No but if she accidentally made the charge before realizing it would overdraw her account then yes she is responsible. If she signed up for a free trial and didnt cancel yes she is responsible.
So if an item is fraudently charged to my checking account and the fraud causes my account to be overdrawn, you think I should be responsible for multiple overdraft fees?
