Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There is no funding available for new work/projects

There is no funding available for new work/projects....minimal for the rest of year and all are wondering what to charge to when projects end and there is no new work....a very dismal situation...not all employees are pulling their weight, leaving a few to carry for others. I guess who can concentrate with surplus calls every month and we keep seeing colleagues laid off.....Ironically a good majority targeted are some of the more astute employees.....leaving all to wonder.

Can anybody confirm this to be true? If what @Y80V2fK-7wfd is saying is, in fact, the truth, a lot more of us could be packing our bags.

Charge to sustaining?? How? All sustaining PMT's have been closed and minimal projects left to charge to and PM's are closing all the PMT's and rejecting our time....

"I was one of 4 Project Managers let go Friday on our team.. kind of a relief.. I was tired of dodging these things twice a year over the last decade... Many more good companies out there to work for.. good luck if your sticking around there."

Great comment and so true.

If software is the henhouse, who is making these decisions

Charge what it is. Do you want to wait to get laid off? Or fired now for falsifying records?

The comments about FUSE are interesting. From my perspective, FUSE is a nightmare. It has so many issues and if you are at its mercy (as am I)... you start to think about how nice it would be not to worry about this stuff anymore. Nobody wants to get laid off, and that comes with consequences . But if it happens, it won't be all bad.

We are assigned several codes in FUSE to charge to & usually by the end of the month we have to remove those hours & charge it to sustaining, which we are told we should not be doing but we have no choice. Who is running the henhouse here, any idea?

What is this another #CNNstakeout ? Where employees sit around all day waiting for something to happen?

Software projects?

hahahahaha.

I made more every year in OT as an outside "grunt" than most of you did all year.

And I retired quite well off at 56.

Hell, I even broke a nail or two and had to drink cold coffee at times.

Enjoy your cubicle. Not everyone is cut out to do the tough jobs,

And bask in your jealousy.

Next they will close fuse for all time reporting to projects. No one will be allowed to charge time.

Good Luck on sustaining - cut that budget next

Count the number of people in meetings - it's going to get petty

Pure, genius from the AVP and above

Software projects are what makes the company 'work'..... construction, so called 'engineering' are grunt work.

What's new? Company thinks things just run for free. We are requested to assign time to projects we don't even work on (wink wink), just to keep the sustaining demons at bay. Even when it is sustaining work (most now), we are to assign time this way (wink wink). Since the company obviously has no clue what the real costs are for projects, and the lies and deceit are rampant, I find it hard to believe they will somehow pull themselves out of this pit.

OP: Are you talking construction and engineering work, or nonsense like software funding for internal told under McFresh? It's probably better if ATT TechDev just doesn't screw up anything else.
