Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They sure do, especially the ones that land new jobs with more pay and less stress - what were they waiting for? Job market works both ways, too.

I spent my 60 days looking for jobs, applying internally and externally, while training the co-workers who would take up my work and making the hand-off as smooth as possible. I fulfilled my end of the severance bargain, and am completely entitled to my opinion of my former employer. If you feel wedded enough to keep sipping the Kool-Aid from the Dallas T-eat, go for it. You're just talking smack that pretty much anyone who's been affected doesn't really care about.

That's one of the fundamentals of Corporate America. Work today, get paid tomorrow. That's about it my friends. Money is coward, corporations don't have a heart...

Yeah, AT&T won’t care a bit. And the former employee shouldn’t care about what AT&T thinks, too. It’s about not internalizing the company’s rejection - and yes, it is one - like a bad breakup, divorce, etc. The sooner you get that ex to disappear from the rear view mirror, the better.

They don't give a darn.

Medical bills, you need the job, you have nano degrees, you're loyal, work for free, collaborate, VPN, skip lunch, take no breaks, s*ck up to the boss, get all the latest 6Sigma or whatever they do now....

It don't matter.

Your numbers are your paycheck.

That's all you worry about.

Be polite, do a decent job, be on time every day and ready to work.

At the end of the day, you are in the expense column and not the asset column.

And will be gone as soon as they can figure out how to.

I know everyone wants to think they are invaluable.

But you're not.

Try to run them out of $$$...repay zero loyalty with the same.....

And don't think for a second your 3rd level or above even know your name.

They don't care.

If you get surplused, you don’t have to pay the company back for the tuition that they covered. If you get surplused while you are still in school, you can take the sabbatical/special leave plan (depending on what part of the company your are with) and they will pay for your school for up to two more years. I don’t know what a Nano degree is, but I went to traditional brick and mortar schools for my degrees.

I took courses towards a Cisco certification at the Community College in Charlotte. T paid for the tuition and books. Not sure what happens if you get hit by a surplus while you are taking courses, but they should pay if you complete the course with a C average

What prepaid tuition program? You must be talking about the micro degrees because they left me with a $5000 bill at ASU when they surplussed me.

Their prepaid tuition program also paid for my Bachelors and Masters degrees which could come in handy when the axe comes for us.
