I see this as another "not what to do and what to do" segment in the next training video adding another 5 minutes of non-productive time to people's lives.
It appears that the GoFundMeAccount that has set up for this person will make him close to being whole. Good for him from the world's cat lovers.
He's on the "who cares" list...
The right thing to do would have been to leave the cat where it was and advise the person to call the fire department. While Verizon could have used this as a nice promo the bottom line is that due to potential liability the company cannot permit every tech in the field with a bucket truck to go retrieving animals and pets. Eventually there will be the tech that injures or kills them self or another while trying to do the 'right thing'.
I will agree that 3 weeks off seems harsh but also the company could have terminated him for what he did. He should enjoy the 3 week vacation and take advantage of the spring time to do yard work and more around the house.
Just like when verizon says go green and do whats good for environment, but they make you commute even further burning fossil fuels
What happened to the socially minded VZ #rightthingtodo, #stopexecjunkits, #rewardpeople whodoright

His 3 weeks of salary can go toward that $60 million severance package
If he’s using a bucket, he’s not management, he’s union. Union people don’t get riffed...they get suspended or fired. Rif’s are for management.
disgusting move on VZ's part
If Momma the cat isn't a customer or shareholder, then why rescue the damn thing?
This pole monkey should get ten lashes from a cane with the credo written on it.
