Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

To those who were laid off

There’s a lot of negativity on here. Those that were laid off keep your head up. I resigned right before the layoffs and it was the best thing I ever did. The money was decent, but if you are miserable what’s the point? If your happy working for T more power to you. You should never sacrifice your integrity and family time for money and or a company that does value you and your well being. Know your worth, there’s plenty of opportunities out there. Life goes on. Good luck and blessings.

There is life after AT&T.

The biggest mistake is to make AT&T your identity. AT&T paid you for to work for them, and maybe helped gain new skills or credentials to do your job, but that was all in the company's interests, not yours. AT&T will not hold your hand on your deathbed, and it will not - and did not - hesitate to dispose of you when for whatever reason they decided they no longer need your services.

If nothing else, prove to yourself, not anyone else, that AT&T management was wrong - success is the best revenge.

@2nax notice you didn't address any of the points. The OP was the one that was miserable, claiming the rest of us must be in it for the money- sacrificing our family, integrity, and well-being. Your points are baseless, since I said nothing that takes life out of the company.

"I agree with, "stupid to resign." Life is too short? Then don't work there for years, then complain life is too short right when you decide to quit. Why did you take the job in the first place? Probably because, "the money was decent." It was fine then, now life is too short. If it's about family time then why ever work? You should Just maximize family time every day and stay home. The complaint was you were miserable at AT&T. Do you have a thin skin or I guess you were being bullied by the bigger kids?"

you are real class act. you are a typical att employee. I am sure you have been recognized as an att "leader". good luck to you I am sure you will have a great career at the T and I am glad I don't have to work with people like you who are s---ing the life out of the company. and go have a drink on me buddy.

“Today I had the opportunity to do something important that no one would notice, or do something useless that looks like an accomplishment. So I went to meetings until I could no longer tell the difference.” Life for 20+ years at AT&T

“That was stupid to resign. Why not wait and tell your boss to lay you off?. Then you're a hero and you get severance”

You’re a real class act. Completely missed the point of that poster’s well wishes and trying to spread a little cheer, hope, and optimism. It’s people like him that make the world a little brighter and haters /trolls like you who spread your vitriol like a cancer to others.

Well said OP. It is stupid to waste your life waiting for the big six month surplus money. Life is too short and you have to be happy and feel like you want to go to work.
