Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Change for the worse

Working at Verizon has worsened exponentially in the last decade. Granted, it was never an ideal workplace, but at least it was better than what we have right now.

Constant uncertainty, constant stress, frustration over office politics that affect everything we do...

And the way things have been going, it's just going to keep getting worse.

I should have left when I had a chance.

welcome to the world of business.

Same way at most places I have worked since getting of the USAF.

I have been at defense contractors, telco, banking in my career, and

all have layoffs every 3 - 6 months more or less.

If you are union, things are different.

But for us IT folks (or other management), that the way it is.

I got rebadged, and that the way life is.

Find a new job, while you have one.

Good luck to all.

While I agree, its still in your hands. The best time to find a new job is when you have a job. Acquire any skills you may need, find a job and quit!

Agree. I am leaving tomorrow but Verizon is definitely no GTE or NYNEX. Those were the good old days.
