At the built rate FiOS was built at during the "initial" 5-10yr ramp up... it would take them another 25yrs to replace all the remaining copper with FiOS to the house... And that ain't happening. They "might" be able to serve all those remaining copper customers with 5G, using FiOS as a back-haul from the antenna's in 6-10yrs... but even that would be wishful thinking. But 2025 = BS (put down the pipe)

Going to call 'B S' on the OP. I don't think Verizon has the insight or leadership to pull this off...especially by 2025. Not going to happen. Too much money (doesn't have, in part of because of the insistence of paying high dividends), too much debt, not enough workforce (employees, inside and outside contractors) and certainly not enough time.
It is a nice pipe dream but this is what Verizon should have been doing for the last 8 to 12 years. Instead they buy useless companies, write off bad decisions and continue to pay high dividends to investors.
40 gigs makes sense considering the cloud. Streaming video games are terrible, even with 1 gig. Also, uncompressed 4K movies are 100 gigabytes, not 100 gigabits. The potential with 40 gigs would be amazing.

40gbps wow. That outta help me and my closest 1k friend to all stream 4K Netflix to our own TVs while at the same time playing 3D online games through remote computers off one connection. Verizon will probably still send out an actiontec router that can’t handle holding 20mbps or not buffer Netflix SD but I’m sure I’ll be able to pass Speedtest.
