Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Work load

Not that long ago when a Mgr was expected to work 9-10 hours a day. (Outside Mgrs that was the baseline regardless. Duty weeks were hellacious when you might get a couple of hours sleep a night but still expected to show up at the yard at 7am.) With the changes in the laws for a lot of folks it is now 8 hours. Basically 20% cut in hours and productivity for the same pay. Not blaming those folks and realize the company is enforcing those rules but do the math. How many businesses would absorb that type of hit without making changes? Know people who won’t answer the phone if it is within 15 minutes of them punching the clock or get p-ss-d if their boss calls late and the conversation last 5 minutes past clock out time.

This company gives the bare minimum to its workers as required by the law. If not for laws to protect workers, this place would be a Victorian era sweatshop with men, women and children working 12 hour shifts seven days a week.

This corporation is run by greedy sociopaths with no soul.

The Company expects time to be worked to get the job done. There was a time when the Company compensated for time spent, monetarily (OT) or compensation time accumulated or end of the year raise or bonus or extra effort. But that recognition faded away. Over time it became a one sided expectation. No raises, no bonuses, no extra effort. The Company takes and takes away, period. If you put in the hours to keep up or get the job done, it’s on you. Not even a thank you. But if you don’t do the hours necessary, you fall behind, get stressed, miss critical dates and catch excrement. It’s a no win deal against you.
