Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

My entire team was just let go

It was done with no taste at all. We we're scheduled for a 30 min conference call where they thanked us for our time but we are no longer needed. We have 30 days to find something within the company we will only get 2 weeks per year and 2 week per year for benefits and a pro-rated sti and prorated profit sharing assuming there is one. We worked in the teleportal team in BR

Many people have been RIF'ed since the VSP and got the normal package. Through June, only people who accepted the VSP and were denied are eligible for the 3 weeks.

If you didn't "apply" for VSP (i.e. you didn't throw your name in the hat), then you're screwed. You get whatever Verizon decides to give you. But like someone said, if you put it, weren't laid off, but are NOW laid off, then you get the enhanced package. Good luck!

Makes sense if you are part of Verizon Media Group. The layoff rules there may be different than core VZ. Here, any RIF with an off payroll prior to the end of June (unless you declined the VSP) gets the benefit of the enhanced package. Probably to avoid lawsuits from those who were not eligible for the VSP. So in that regard, @1fkw is correct and @1mfa is incorrect.

Our team was small 13 individuals we came on as part of the Yahoo buyout we were not part of the VSp so we don't get the three weeks

What is BR?

No it does not. It states that anyone offered and accepted the VSP, but not accepted by management will get the same 3 weeks if they are RIF’ed before June 28th.

If these people were not part of the VSP, they can be RIF’ed with anything VZ choses to give.

Not sure if I buy this. The VSP letter states that anybody laid off through the end of the June date would receive the same benefits that was offered in the original VSP which means 3 weeks.

Lucky b--tards!! The only reason I haven’t quit is because I want Verizon to pay me to leave.

How many people were let go?

Did anyone of your group apply and turned down for VSP? If so, they need to review VSP to determine if they have additional benefits for those individuals.

Sorry to hear and good luck moving forward. That’s all poor leadership. If an entire team was let go clearly there were issues that could have been hinted out so people looked harder at the VSP
